Re: NAREN at TJ (1/30/10)

With New Kent and Raleigh Charter dropping, we're down to 21 teams--is there any news from Maggie Walker on how likely it is you can come?

Re: NAREN at TJ (1/30/10)

Registration will start at 8 and we'd like to begin around 9. There will be a complimentary donut breakfast in the morning. If we don't lose too many teams to snow, we'll run round robins in four brackets of as close to 6 teams as possible in the morning. After lunch the top 12 teams will be divided...

Re: NAREN at TJ (1/30/10)

It looks like at this point the best thing to do is avoid postponing the tournament unless Fairfax County cancels activities for 1/30. If they do, it'll be announced at http://www.fcps.edu/news/emerg.htm, but this may not happen until the morning.

Re: NAREN at TJ (1/30/10)

If we need to reschedule, how would February 13 or 20 work for teams? How late would you need to be notified in the event that we do need to postpone?

Update: We're now leaning toward 2/20 if we need to change. We should come to a final decision by Wednesday or Thursday morning at the latest.

Done. We're now at 24 teams, but there'll be a waiting list if more teams are interested (email us at [email protected]).

We're only at 22 teams now, so it looks like we're going to cap our field at 24 instead of 36 and do four brackets of six.

We're aiming for around the difficulty of HSAPQ #9, so somewhat easier than DAFT, Prison Bowl, or HFT, but harder than last year's HSAPQ sets.

NAREN at TJ (1/30/10)

Thomas Jefferson's housewritten tournament, NAREN: Just What Is It that Makes Him So Different, So Appealing? will be held at TJ on January 30, 2010. The field will be capped at 24 teams, with no more than 6 players per team and only 4 playing at a time. The format will probably be much like that of...

Re: Thoughts on HSAPQ's Place in the High School Market

At noon today we didn't know whether we were going to be able to get the questions in time to run the tournament. We were told that they had been written but not randomized, and that it was possible that we could get them either in random order or sorted by category, but we weren't sure when that wa...
