Which Robert E. Lee is that? The one in the Washington area or the one in Southwestern Virginia closer to Spotswood?

How many team round points are available to each team?
I thought it was almost 300 plus the 100 points each team starts with.

It was cool that Pat Buchanan walked into the TV studio at the same time as our team; although he was not there to watch the game.

Walter Johnson Big Train Speedball Scrimmage

Today, Walter Johnson H.S. hosted its annual Big Train Speedball Scrimmage. We had 12 teams attend playing "It's Academic" style questions (2 or 3 teams playing in each game). I'm not going to give you the full results, just the teams I think you may care about: Blake 4-0 (notable wins ove...

Back to the topic...I am urging my team to go this year, and I hope we end up deciding to go. From what I hear, Gonzaga's tournament had good questions last year and their school is very pretty.

It is funny that that is what really smart, quizbowl people say when they are drunk, they name German statesman that are not cities in North Dakota.

Who/what organization is running the Sept 16th tournament?
I think what I was trying to say is that there is no tournament in MoCo that I am aware of on that day.

This thread on Gonzaga's tournament is being hijacked, and thats not good/fair.

I'm pretty sure MoCo has no school on Thursday, September 16 because of Rosh Hashana. It is hard to believe Blake would have an "after school" tournament on a day when we have no school. I thought the only after school tournament in the fall at Blake was the Quizmaster Preseason Tournament...

Today in practice:
Blah blah blah (something about unions, I wasn't really paying attention)....identify this Central American country with capital at Tegu:buzz:
Me: Nicaragua
This resulted in the captain smacking me with a book just before I could grab it to smack myself.

Mr. Tyson is the principal of Thurgood Marshall Academy Public Charter High School somewhere in DC.

Going a little bit off topic here: Michael Kettler of Gonzaga plays for Team DC at Panasonic. I think he should be playing for Team Maryland because he actually lives in "MOCO", Maryland.

I think that many teams won't want to go to two tournaments in one weekend. A lot of teams are going to pick between your tournament and TJ's. BTW...All of these teams should win their first round "It's Academic" tapings.

A few teams I forgot about: Governor's school lost their entire A team, but will be able to come back strong for next year. Spotswood lost one player, their captain, but I don't think she was their leading scorer. Princess Anne: never seen them play. Banneker lost a few players, but will have good r...

Mid-Atlantic predictions---I ended last season thinking that Gonzaga was going to be a better team than Blake, but that singles tournament changed my mind. This is because "The Michaels" (Braun from Blake and K-something from Gonzaga) are pretty much the only scorers on their team. Seeing ...

I just looked at the brackets and it looks like Richard Montgomery will most likely be playing Blair in the second round. It should be a tough game, although I don't know how good Blair will be next year with the loss of a few of their key players.

My coach told us that assuming both teams make it, WJ would be playing TJ in the third round...how fun  . On a side note, there is a good chance that Holton Arms will be playing their brother school, Landon, in the second round. I really feel bad for those boys because they are going to get ow...
