Re: How to transition from high school to college quiz bowl
I've really gotten into the habit of simply reading things that come up (books, poems, short stories, histories, etc). This isnt extremely efficient, but I find it fulfilling. If you find it fulfilling to read works that come up in quizbowl as a form of studying, then by all means continue. General...

Great tournament. I got to play against several skilled players I haven't met before. University level quiz bowl is dejecting, exhilarating, and humbling, in that order. I'm not sure what happened with UCF showing up as I didn't go to Chicago. But I'd also like to apologize. The reason, if anyone cares, is that one solo freshman decided to go by himself, stayed the extra day in Chicago, realized he had no clue where he was going or what time it was or how to get the...

Also, the non-timing of the half packets is pretty much an admission that the clock is dumb. I suppose the relevant model is one in which there's a tradeoff between variability of the outcome due to vagaries of which questions are asked in which part of the packet/half of the match vs. something wo...

I also think that some teams are a lot better at ACF than NAQT. We played Alabama very close a few years back on NAQT tossups (losing on the last tossup of course).
