With regards to nationals for next year, expect a separate Darien history bowl club to attend NHBB nationals and we plan on attending HSNCT as well (though we will do NSC if that's all our advisors can do-considering we have 2 advisors plus the coaches from Middlesex we should have advisor availabil...

Re: The logistics of future HSNCTs
I also think NAQT should make it harder to qualify for HSNCT, but I think it should be based on the quality of the field at a tournament and the quality of teams in the region in which the tournament is held, rather than the set the tournament uses. Of the two A-set tournaments my team attended this...

Many of the teams from the WGBH High School Quiz Show attended the state tournaments, but were probably discouraged by the remarkable performance of the teams who had previously attended tournaments (We had a 430 - 10 match, for example). I'll agree with you that Darien and AMSA are almost equal in strength, but we've never had our full A team play against your full A team, so everything's a gray area. Re: Thinking About New Quizbowl Team?
You could try doing some middle school competition next year if you can get a couple more 7th and 8th graders interested. Otherwise, you could do some high school novice tournaments. If you practice and you can find a couple of okay teammates, you should play at an acceptable level. Also, competing ...

I would say, that if you know what comes up, you can read the poems online. You'll find a bunch of results if you just google the poem. To know what comes up, reading packets and studying frequency lists would be a good idea.

I would say Prison Bowl, LIST, and GSAC are annually very good. LIST is probably the easiest of the three, prison bowl the hardest. 2013 BHSAT was a fantastic regular difficulty set, but I wouldn't recommend 2012 (I don't know about other years). Sparknotes or something similar to spark notes. I did it before MSNCT last year. I would suggest actually reading poems and short stories though. In regards to the quality of the field, the teams that play NAC are nowhere near the best teams in the country, and it would be disingenuous to call it a "national championship". The best teams that play are generally somewhere in the 80-100 range in the Morlan rankings, and most of the t...
