Re: Alex Wallace's Tremendous Trash Packet

Regarding the "random announcements" thread, I think the original idea behind that thread (I created the thread, after all) was that we wouldn't get hundreds of threads basically turning into "I wrote this packet, let's play it on Skype or the IRC." However, I do agree that clog...

Re: a Game of Thrones Set

Since a variety of people want to hear it, I will probably read it at ICT if people are available and willing but also on Skype on a quiet Sunday (probably the 16th of April) if that is alright with people. Also, a fun little rule is to pick a house before playing the set(the more obscure the better).

Re: a Game of Thrones Set

I was wondering a few things: -Will content from the novellas or The World of Ice and Fire be covered, or just the main books? -Will there be a particular focus on either one of the show or the books? -Will you mix hints from the show and the books into the same tossup, or will only one be dealt wi...

a Game of Thrones Set

Hi All, I am almost done with a four (possibly five) packet Game of Thrones set for some Florida quizbowlers who are also fans of it. The set has 20 tossups each followed by a 10 point bonus question. It uses clues from both the books and HBO TV series. Lemme know if anyone outside the state has int...

Re: Spring Undergraduate Novice (SUN) Announcement

Are you open to having mirrors on this set as late as September? (i.e. Having it during the usual collegiate novice timeframe) I would be open to this; I have talked to the likes of Jay and Aayush briefly about the set but not much more. Feel free to rename it though if you have a site as only the ...

Re: SCT, autobids, and ICT size discussion

I think our A team competes just fine with the Georgia's, Alabama's, and Florida's when full strength. It's not a good idea to make global comparisons of team strength based on stats from combined field SCTs played on D2 questions and ACF Fall. Those results are never analogous to comparisons which...

Re: SCT, autobids, and ICT size discussion

Sorry, Peter. I searched UCF and got results for EFT and SCT but not ACF Fall, which as Victor pointed out, aren't posted. It's cool. If you still care the Fall stat link is in the collegiate announcement forum for the FSU ACF site. My teammates are really smart people and the club has come a long ...

Re: SCT, autobids, and ICT size discussion

Or Carleton, or UCF, or WKU, or Yale B, or Virginia B, or true Maryland B.......... I know this probably does not help much, but I just wanted to throw in the comment that UCF has only played one tournament this season as a true A team (Acf fall 2016 I think). Our "A Team" for SCT was our...

Re: 2016-17 Tournament Schedule: Planning, Discussion, etc.

There's SUN being produced by a bunch of people from Florida, but at Fall-minus difficulty it doesn't exactly fill the niche that MUT covered. It is definitely no substitute for MUT, which will be missed in Florida where it is usually played in May. SUN's original purpose was to cater to both Unive...

Hi all, this seemed like, other than the formal forum post to go up later today or tomorrow, the appropriate place to mention that the some Florida quizbowlers including myself have been developing a novice for mid to late spring (it's at about 50% done at the time). This discussion was a large part...

Looking back at my A Team Challenge matches online during 2013 and 2014, those questions are pretty awful. The difficulty range is all over the place with questions on obscure household appliances to George Washington two liners.
