Re: Quizbowl in Oregon

A good thing about starting a completely new quizbowl circuit in an area is that you can start off with the best questions. You avoid having to try to convince coaches to go to your non-QG tournament and avoid having to compete with QG in that area. I think the best way to promote quizbowl within an...

Hey, new idea: We have pre-made teams scrimmage each other and we do it like a normal game. For instance, Tanay, Ankit, Nikhil, and Phil want to play a game as a team against a team composed of William, Joe, Ryan, and Tristan. I can read for them, and they can scrimmage as if it were a real match. N...

The problem of single elimination is that one of the two songs I would have voted for for one and two had to go. Tournament should have split into 8 round robins of 8 and then re-seeded after the prelims into a superplayoff. There could have been issues with seeding though. Best choice would have o...

So yesterday on a whim, I decided to try a new idea for quizbowl scrimmages. The way A-sets are written, the only way I could see it taking more than 25 minutes to run a round is if the moderators hold conversations between questions. Next time you host a tournament, you should probably try to cap the teams at a number of teams which produces an optimal tournament.
