I'll just say this...aside from people who go to Minnesota, there are few places from which it's more convenient to go to Minnesota than to Chicago. This is true. You know what else is true? Yes. Or maybe the rule about pre-emptive answers having to be verbatim what's on the moderator's answer sheet even if they are by all accounts correct. I guess they need to preserve the excitement of reading ALL FOUR CHOICES! Do they let you answer, say, "D," or do you have to say the spe...

Stock phrases

One wonderful aspect of high school quiz bowl are the buzz words...those stock phrases that are always used to describe one particular thing.

Examples

Fiasco: Bay of Pigs
Strongman: Manuel Noriega/Panama

It is unreasonable to expect the tournament editor to catch plagiarized questions. Let's not forget that this doesn't rule out plagiaris...

Minnesota Undergraduate Tournament (Armistice Day)

This was a NAQT CUT-style tournament at the U of M on 11/11. Pat Hope with another solid tournament takes the win and the scoring title. I don't think the stats are online yet.

Questions? Comments? Concerns?

I'm always interested to hear what other people think of tournaments I played.
