I used to be very much of the school of thought that questions with authors as an answer were a bad idea because they always devolved into list memory, and that the only way to make them not suck was to leave titles to the end and quote/summarize as much as possible. This tournament has changed my m...

The basic idea is to try to put a correspondence between the winning percentage of the opposing team and a player's expected personal score. People are using calculators to approximate actual data into a best-fit first-degree equation, where x is the winning percentage of the opposing team, y is the...

Penn Bowl?

Does anyone know if Penn Bowl's happening this year? I've tried e-mailing Nick Walters, and haven't heard back. I believe it's typically been announced by this point in year, yes?

One of the things I'm concerned about is Kilby's point. There are certain topics with some trash genres where every other team has someone with ridiculous depth. About five of them have managed to appear in 3+ out of 8 current packets, without overlapping clues. How much should I cut down on that?

Repeats?

I'm editing my first tournament (trash, but of course that shouldn't change anything about the editing), and was wondering about repeats. Is there a generally-accepted rule about what constitutes a repeat, or is it something one has to play by ear? For example, roughly what level of majorness does s...

Field update for Lemur Bowl on October 30th, unofficially named Rochester v. The World... Rochester (4) Columbia? (1) The Gerbils Mike Hoey-Lukakis (who is playing solo at the moment, but who would probably appreciate some backup if anyone else wants to come as a free agent) Smith? (1) Williams Hous...

(cross-post from Yahoo!) Due to some regional scheduling difficulties, Lemur Bowl is being moved to Sunday, October 30th. All other dates, fees, etc. remain unchanged. Additionally, I have a suspicion that I'm going to end up short on packets, so I'd like to solicit packets from whatever freelance s...

The Return of Lemur Bowl

(cross-post from Yahoo! group) Williams College, in the scenic Berkshires of Northwest Massachusetts, is proud to announce that this upcoming fall we will revive our defunct, packet-submission Open trash tournament, Lemur Bowl. Lemur Bowl will occur this upcoming October 29th, 2005, two weeks prior ...
