Howard, the genitive neutral plural of bonus is bonorum. . . .

I know someone who uses "bonuses" as a singular. That's even worse; it bothers the hell out of me.

Whoa, he won $48K on Kids' Jeopardy a few years back (albeit with doubling up 3 times).

Yeah, Manhattan.

Thanks, I'll try the food thing; that's worked for other clubs at the school, now that you mention it.

Garnering Interest

Having recently started a team, I've had quite a bit of trouble finding anybody willing to join. I go to a gifted school, so I don't see why there's nobody interested besides 4 freshman (myself and friends of mine, basically) and a sophomore. Does anyone know of any good tactics to get people intere...

Out of curiosity, what school do you go to? To get info on tournaments around New York, I'd email Brother Nigel from Kellenberg Memorial (whose team runs LIFT), Alan(?) something, the coach of Half Hollow Hills West, and/or Seton Hall Prep (in New Jersey). Horace Greeley, White Plains and recently,...

Readiness for Competition

I recently started a quiz bowl team at my high school (I'm a freshman), and we've been practicing for a while now. The other members of the team appear to be getting a little bit restless, but my coach isn't sure if we're ready for competition yet. What's the general consensus on when a team should ...
