SC may have the same problem. Someone is going to get left out. There are still NAQT qualifiers being played.
How can some schools qualify as many as three teams based upon a top 15% finish and tournament champion be left behind?

Readers wanted
If you are planning on being in SC on March 24th, I am looking for quality readers for our NAQT state tournament. There are social conflicts with the Aiken Triple Crown and I'm looking for volunteers. Don't be shy.

How many teams have expressed an interest in attending on your original date (Oct. 14th)? You are not the only group to host a tournament on a SAT day. You will never be able to accommodate everyone. If you can get 16 to 32 teams, you can have a manageable tournament and build from there. More and m...

We paid over $700 for our Zee-Craft showtime system for 16 players. We sent it back for repair once, but we can only play 8=maybe. The wiring is extremely delicate. The twisting of the wires through use, bulbs going out and clips constantly breaking make the unit more of a nuisance than fun to use. ...

Byko, James Island may not be at full strength, but if they are, the babies are lightning fast on quick answers. I look forward to the Cabell Midland match between them and JI. I question whether you will actually hold the tournament on October 7 or any other date, NAQT questions or house-written. Harvard has announced tournaments in the past that lead teams to make plans, raise travel money, obtain their 60-day notice for out of state travel and then you cancelled. That i...

Anthony, Three years ago, my academic team captain was captain of the track and cross country teams, received his IB diploma, scored 1590 on the SATs and also was valedictorian. He is on full scholarship to Georgia Tech in mechanical engineering. He was our leading scorer in toss-ups. We played a te...

Through the years, Brookwood, Walton and Dorman have all had outstanding female players. My best player is female. My captain a few years back was female, as was last year. Generally, I reserve seat one for my most skilled player. Two years ago, that player was female. She was not a girly girl, but ...

J.R., Do you remember when I held Aiken's first tournament in the early 90s and I had to contact the state of Georgia (whatever association it was) to verify that I would not allow any non-accredited schools in the tournament? I presume that is no longer the case. Who accredits homeschoolers? I know...

Home Schools
I don't mean to be a bad guy and not to take away from Covenant Christian because they are a talented team, but why are home schoolers allowed to compete in any tournament that requires all students to be a member of the same school? Some of these academies are nothing more than locations for parent...

Let's see now. If I have a quiz bowl class, I may end up with students in the class that I really didn't want there and can't get rid of them. My AP/IB students are going to take a hit on their GPA because the quiz bowl class probably isn't going to get approved for Honors/AP/IB credit. I thought ab...

Georgia Tech Tournament
When you first made the tournament announcement, we asked permission to travel to Georgia Tech. Our district requires 60 days notice for overnight and out-of-state travel. Much to my disappointment, that takes FSU and other tournaments off of the table. I can remember when we actually won a Georgia ...

National tournaments are not the only events that may have a bias or perceived unethical behavior. I suspect any team that travels has a story to tell about being an outsider going up against the hometown favorite, but what are we to do? Stay at home? My teams learned a long time ago that when we tr...

Brookwood and Dorman are by far the best tournaments we have attended the past dozen years. The only college tournament that remotely resembles them is Vandy. Great job, guys. Keep up the good work.
