About this: do you mean that the finals questions will have harder answerlines, or that the clues in the questions will be harder?

GSAC is now a platinum-certified tournament, meaning that the top 25% of the field will qualify for 2012 NSC.

We are going to tentatively set the field cap at 30 teams. We'll be expanding the field once we have a better idea of the moderator situation.

Man, this is such a great field at this competition - kinda like our own mini-HFT in the Mid-Atlantic. I hope my kids are up for the challenge! See everyone Saturday.

One team dropped from the field, leaving us with 28 teams.
A couple more registrations would be very helpful, so if you plan to attend, please register soon.
We'll be closing the field on Thursday.

Is it too late for us to register? We managed to find a driver for one team at the last minute and the kids really wanted to go to this one. I sent you the details over e-mail.

That would be really good if Cave Spring could send a team as we had to drop our 2nd team's registration today (as I have emailed the GSAC coordinators about)

Just a heads up, The Richmond Christmas Parade will be held tomorrow as well. I'm not sure what roads will be closed but it may have an effect on travel times. I know in the past it has caused my team issues with my team being on time.

You'll be able to cross Broad Street (before 9am) any place east of Strawberry or (after 9am) after 7th Street (after which you can come up Leigh).

This was a fun tournament. Thanks MW for hosting and doing a decent job running it. The rounds went pretty quickly on what was a good set that we liked.

It was a pleasure to help out. Hopefully we'll be down in Richmond another time this year, perhaps.

Thanks to all the teams that came out and played yesterday. We didn't have any teams drop at the last second, so that was good. Also, thanks to all the moderators including VCU, alumni, and other various volunteers for helping us out the entire day. I hope everyone enjoyed the tournament.
There are still mirrors out there, so please don't mention any specifics. If you have any feedbacks on the tournament or the set, please let me know via email.

We noticed the missing game between the House Team and Raleigh Charter B, and also noticed the finals of GDS and St. Anselms being posted twice. We will get those fixed on Monday once we return to school. If there are any other mistakes in stats, please let me know.

Here are the top 10 teams in our final standing:
1. St. Anselm's
2. GDS
3. TJ A
4. Cave Spring
5. Richard Montgomery A
6. Guilford
7. Whitman A
8. State College A
9. Raleigh Charter A
10. Enloe

Once again, thanks everyone!

Look at that Andrew Hart Grail for St. Anselm's.

Anyways, I take it that the set was well-received? What do the participating teams have to say about the relative difficulty of this set? I'm pretty interested in that. I'm also interested in how the increased difficulty of the finals packet(s) played out.

The set was noticeably easier than any recent incarnation of this tournament. But, it was largely pretty excellent, aside from formatting/typo things, a couple of semi-repeats, and at least twice (i think) a bonus clue later being the second or third answer in that same bonus series (that was frustrating). The bonuses definitely did a great job of having clear easy, medium, and hard parts most of the time.

The decrease in difficulty this year was an intentional decision on our part, so as to make it far more accessible to teams.

We have fixed most of the issues in the set before our next mirror. If you could email us any repeats you remember so that we can make sure we caught them, Mr. Chrzanowski, that would be great.

Believe me, i'm not complaining; i think this was a good thing. It still did an excellent job of distinguishing between and among the top teams. There were very few buzzer races. The set was great.

I'll see what i can think of. Only one egregious example stands out from the last couple rounds, which you probably fixed, but i'll see if i can recollect anything else. If you personally send a copy of the set to me, i'd be happy to do some more thorough editing if that's okay.
