Qblitz Season Finale (Online, May 20)

Post by Dominator » Sun Apr 21, 2019 9:12 am

Qblitz is excited to announce its second high school tournament, Qblitz Season Finale 1, to take place between Monday May 20 and Friday May 24. The tournament will take place online on the Qblitz website.

WHAT IS QBLITZ?
The Qblitz website uses an automated moderator to read questions to players, and then tracks where they buzzed. Those buzz points are used to compare players against each other, allowing matches to be constructed. You can see this automated moderator in action by playing our sample packet. You can also watch the championship match of our last two three events here.

FORMAT
Qblitz Season Finale 1 is open to individual players in high school or below. Over the 5 days, participants will play 5 rounds of 20 tossups. The format is a shootout. For each round, players are assigned to a small pool. Once everyone has played their questions for that day, we build the matches within the pool, and the top performers in each pool move up the tournament ladder. The following round, players will be assigned to a new pool with others on their rung. At the end, the winner of the top pool is the champion. Players will play one round of 20 tossups. Once everyone is done, we'll "run" a full round-robin. The top performer will be crowned champion.

THE SET
The questions for the competition are being written in-house.

REGISTRATION
Registration is currently open, and will continue to be until Monday, May 13. To register, you'll need to be logged into your Qblitz account.

Because Qblitz is more fun with a friend, for this tournament, anyone who pays the full registration fee can register a teammate for free. To take advantage of this offer, email us at buzz@qblitz.org once you've registered and let us know who you're choosing to play with. (That teammate will need a Qblitz account before being officially registered.) This tournament is free to play, but you'll need to register to claim your spot.

QUESTIONS
If you have questions, please post them here, or PM me, or email Qblitz (buzz@qblitz.org).

We hope to see you all there!

It seems that this event butting up against HSNCT travel was a bigger problem than anticipated, so we've decided to make the following changes:
  • This event is now only one round on Monday, May 20. Everyone will play in one big bracket.
  • The registration fee for this event has been waived. Anyone in high school or earlier can play for free. Anyone who had paid has already been refunded.
If you're a high schooler wanting a chance to warm up against a national field right before HSNCT, don't miss your chance! Log in to your Qblitz account and visit the Register page to reserve your spot.
