Triton Fall @ UCSD [11-9-2019]

The UCSD Quizbowl team is excited to announce Triton Fall VIII, to be hosted on our campus on Saturday, November 9, 2019.

This tournament will be open to high school teams and will have consist of two divisions: Junior Varsity and Varsity. The Varsity division will be a mirror of HFT XIV and the junior varsity division will be a mirror of NAQT's IS-187A.

Eligibility:
The Varsity division will be open to all high school teams. The Junior Varsity division will be open only to high school teams that have no players who have scored 50 or more PPG in a JV division, 30 or more PPG in a Varsity division, or 10 or more PPG at a high school national tournament.

Pricing:
New schools (schools that did not play a tournament in the 2018-2019 season) will pay a flat fee of $30 per team.

For returning schools:
$90 for the first team
$80 for each additional team

Teams of more than six players will not be accepted for either new or returning teams.

Discounts:
-$20 per school that successfully introduces quizbowl to another school
-$5 per working buzzer system (must accommodate at least eight players)
-$10 per experienced moderator that provides their own laptop or tablet capable of editing Google Sheets
-$5 per 50 miles traveled per team (one-way)

Early Registration Discounts:
-$10 per team that registers on or before November 2
-Additional $10 per team that registers on or before October 12

Minimum Fees:
$40 for each regular team
$30 for each new school team


How to Register:
More logistics information will be provided closer to the date of the tournament to teams that have registered. To register (or if you have any questions), email us at ucsdqb@gmail.com with:
1. How many teams you expect to bring in each division(include a request for waitlisted teams)
2. The number of buzzers and moderators you can provide
3. A contact email and phone number
4. Additional discounts (new school or distance)
5. Final expected cost (excluding waitlisted teams)
Please include the name of the tournament as well as your school in the subject of your email ("UCSD registration for Triton Fall")

Registration Limits:
We will implement a soft field cap of 20 teams until we can confirm rooms and staffers, with soft caps of 12 teams for Varsity and 8 teams for Junior Varsity. Returning schools will be limited to registering three teams each. Any additional teams they would like to register will be placed onto a waitlist. If reserved spots are not filled one week prior to the tournament or we can expand the field cap, teams on the waitlist will be let off.

Thank you to everyone who played HFT at Triton Fall! We hope you had an enjoyable experience.

A private discussion forum for the set has been created. To join, click on your Username (top-right hand corner of the page) -> User Control Panel -> Usergroups -> request to join 2019 HFT Discussion. We will approve requests as fast as we can. Once you're approved, you can access the discussion forum via navigating to the "National and Regional Comparisons and Discussion" subforum.

Triton Fall was one of the first two mirrors of HFT this season, and we care about your feedback greatly, whether it's positive or negative. So please consider posting your thoughts on the discussion forums; your comments are invaluable in calibrating the set for future mirrors.
