Tigertown Throwdown 2019

Post by spjacks »

It’s that time of year again! The Clemson Academic Team is pleased to announce that we will once again be hosting our annual high school tournament, Tigertown Throwdown, on October 5th! This will be an official NAQT tournament using IS-187A.

Location:
The tournament will be held in Daniel Hall on the main Clemson Campus, with check-in taking place right outside of Daniel 100. Teams may park in the Sike's lot, where our staff members will direct the teams to the venue.

Registration:
Registration will go through Friday, October 4th. Maximum of 4 teams per school*. Maximum of 24 total teams.
This tournament will be using the NAQT registration system. To register, please visit: https://www.naqt.com/registration/regis ... &type=TEAM

Schedule:
Check-in will run from 8:00-8:30 am followed by an introductory meeting. The tournament will start at approximately 9:00 am and hopefully end early in the afternoon. There will be a lunch break after the prelims or noon—whichever comes first. Teams who do not qualify for the playoffs may either stay for consolation rounds or leave following the playoffs announcement. Book awards and a trophy for the top team will be presented following the prelims and finals, respectively.

Cost:
$65 base fee per team
$5 per parking pass**
-$10 per working buzzer system
-$15 per staffer (reader/scorekeeper)
Minimum fee of $30 per team

If you want to pay beforehand, please send your check to:
Clemson Academic Team
63 Clemson Place Circle
Clemson SC 29631

If you have any issues registering, you can reach the tournament director at [email protected]

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you in Tigertown!

*If there is space, and it doesn't make the bracketing difficult, we may allow extra teams. Just let me know, as the team limit on the registration system will be set to 4, and only the TD can bypass this.

**Clemson parking services is quite finicky, so in order to prevent tickets, we have to issue event parking passes. We encourage carpooling as best as you can in order to limit the cost(as well as help the environment). We need to know the number of passes your team(s) will need 10 days before the tournament date(September 25th). I will send out a reminder email to the registered teams.
