ACE XIII - Arcadia High School(11/23/19)

Arcadia Quiz Bowl is proud to announce this year’s iteration of ACE XIII which will be held on November 23, 2019. There will be a varsity division reading NAQT IS #188.

DATE AND LOCATION:
ACE XIII will take place on Saturday, 23 November 2019 at Arcadia High School: 180 Campus Dr. Arcadia, CA 91007. Registration will begin at 8:00 A.M in Room C101 and matches shall begin promptly at 9:00 A.M.

ELIGIBILITY:
The varsity division is open to all high school students.

The top 15% of the field (from the Regular Division) will qualify for HSNCT. The top 10% of the field will qualify for PACE NSC.

Tournament fees should be paid at the tournament with either cash or checks (make checks out to Arcadia Quizbowl).

COST:
The registration fee is $80 per team that is established in the SoCal circuit and $70 for subsequent teams. The subsequent team discount carries over between divisions.
$40 per team that is new* to the circuit.

*Schools that have not competed at a pyramidal quiz bowl tournament within the past year; "pyramidal quiz bowl” does not encompass other academic/trivia competitions like Science Bowl or Academic League.

DISCOUNT:
-$5 Discount for each working buzzer set.
-$5 for every 50 mi travelled, calculated using Google Maps from your school to Arcadia High School.
-$10 for each competent moderator

FORMAT:
Each round will be played as two untimed halves of 10 tossups each. Official NAQT rules will be used.
The tournament shall use the IS-188 set and shall adhere to official NAQT rules, with the exception that matches shall be run as untimed halves of ten questions each. In addition, ACF rules will be followed regarding timing and tiebreakers. The exact formal of the tournament (round-robin or bracketed) will depend on the exact number of teams. Ties shall be resolved on the basis of points per bonus within brackets, and ties crossing different brackets shall be resolved on the basis of points per game.

The field will cap at 24 teams.

FOOD AND PARKING:
A light breakfast will be provided in the registration room(Room C101).
Within walking distance (15 min), there is a mall with a large food court. Closer options include Chinese fast food and Subway.
Parking will be ample in the lot on El Monte Blvd.

PRIZES:
Prizes will be awarded separately to top individual scorers in the varsity brackets.
