Master @ Ridgewood (NJ) (LIT) - 5/9/20

Post by nick. »

Ridgewood High School is pleased to announce our first annual Mid Atlantic Spring Tournament Established by Ridgewood (MASTER) pre-nationals tournament, which will take place on Saturday, May 9th, 2020. We'll be mirroring LIT, a HS nationals/medium college level set by UT Austin.

MASTER will be held at Ridgewood High School, 627 East Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood, NJ, which is just 20 miles outside of NYC. We are located directly off of multiple major highways (17, 208, Garden State Parkway), and can be pretty easily reached from most parts of the NY Metro Area. People can park in the main parking lot on East Ridgewood Avenue, which is free.

On the day of the tournament, teams can sign in from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM. After the opening meeting, we're aiming to start at around 9 AM.

There will be trophies for the top three teams, as well as book prizes for the top ten scorers in the prelims.

Registration
Registration for this tournament will only be accepted through this form: https://forms.gle/e5UVmJBY5fXXrju17, which will be kept open until 10 pm on May 4th.

Question Set
We will be mirroring the 2020 Longhorn Invitational Tournament. More information can be found here: viewtopic.php?p=358833 .

Format
Registration will be capped at 8 teams.

Prelims will have two groups of six teams, with each team playing five games before lunch. After lunch, playoffs will be two groups. Each team is guaranteed five playoff rounds. If a team goes 5-0 in playoffs, there will be no final, if two teams go 4-1, there will be a one-game final.

$90 for the first team, $75 for all additional. (No more than six players per team; only four players playing at a time).
-$5 per working buzzer system, no limit.
-$10 per moderator, no limit. (Moderators do not need to bring their own laptops)
There is a minimum fee of $40 x n, where n is the number of teams brought

Payment
Make all checks out to “RHS Association”. We will accept checks on the day of the tournament. We also accept cash. No other forms of payment will be accepted.

Food
A complimentary breakfast of bagels and water will be provided to all teams. For lunch, we would prefer if teams stayed on-site in order to prevent delays, but we will also distribute a list of local eateries. We will be offering pizza for sale at lunch at $12 a pie. If you would like to order, please indicate the number of pies on a google form that will be sent out closer to the tournament. Beverages will also be available for purchase at lunch.

Drop Fees:
We will be charging a drop fee for any team that drops after 10 pm on May 4th. If a team drops after May 4th but before May 6th at 10 PM, they will pay half of their registration as a drop fee. If a team drops after May 6th, they are liable for the full fee. Drop fee checks may be mailed to this address

As schools in NJ are now closed until May 15th, this tournament is officially canceled. We recommend that anybody who was going to play this now play TAPIR Online on the same day as it is the most comparable tournament experience. Thank you.
