Mounds View Tournament Extraordinaire - October 10, 2020

Post by SourSheep »

The Mounds View quiz bowl team is happy to announce the Mounds View Tournament Extraordinaire (MVTE), which will be held online on October 10, 2020. The tournament will be hosted using SATURNALIA, a hard high school (“regular-plus”) difficulty set. More details about the set can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=109&t=23855

Eligibility
All teams from Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin are automatically eligible to play this event. Any other teams that want to participate should contact us for an exception. Each team must have no more than 6 listed players, of which no more than 4 may be in play at any given time.

Format
The tournament will be held on Discord and will begin at 9 am CDT. All players must need a separate Discord account to participate in the tournament. We aim to have at least 8 rounds with tossups and bonuses. The tournament will be run using NAQT rules, with modifications made for untimed rounds and a short increase in the time given to teams to respond to a question. The field cap for this tournament is currently 12 teams, which may be expanded if we obtain more staff.

Costs and Payment
The base registration fee for this tournament is $50. At this time, we are not providing any registration discounts. Payment methods will be finalized at a date closer to the tournament. Please contact us if you need an invoice or other document.

Registration
To register, please email us at [email protected] with the subject line “MVTE Registration”. Registration will be confirmed when we respond indicating that it’s complete. Teams have until October 8, 2020 to cancel registration without cost; teams that do so afterward must still pay the registration fee.

Note
All players participating in the tournament must follow the PACE Code of Conduct, found here: http://www.pace-nsc.org/nsc-code-of-conduct/. Any acts of misconduct, including cheating, are strictly prohibited and will be dealt with accordingly by the tournament directors.
