Ithaca Fall Tournament IX Online (11/21/20) [NAQT IS-197]

The Ithaca High School Quizbowl team will be hosting the ninth annual Ithaca Fall Tournament on Saturday, November 21, 2020. As is the case with other quizbowl tournaments this year, this tournament will be held completely online in accordance with NAQT’s Online Tournament Guide. The exact details of what platform we will use are still TBD, and will be decided based partially on team needs/preferences. We would expect all players to be online and ready to go by 8:30 for a morning informational meeting, and we plan to start the first round no later than 9:00.
Set Used
We will be using NAQT Invitational Series Packet 197, a standard-difficulty set for high school teams. Please note that this is the same set that will be used by the Greater Pennsylvania Quiz Bowl Association the prior weekend.
Registration
Complete this Google Form to register for this tournament. Schools are invited to register as many teams as they would like, but be advised that no single team’s roster may exceed six players (of whom four will be playing at any given time).
Regional Eligibility
This tournament is open only to teams in the Northeast Region of the United States. This includes Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and any team from a New England state. If teams outside this region wish to participate, please contact us (information below).
Fee Structure
The base price is $70 for the first team and $60 for each additional team. We are also offering the following discounts:

Misconduct Information
All players, spectators, and coaches must adhere to the PACE Code of Conduct. Players, spectators, and coaches should report misconduct either directly to staff or via the misconduct form found at the bottom of the PACE Code of Conduct. Every instance of misconduct will be dealt with seriously by tournament staff. Similarly, the staff will investigate every allegation of cheating and reserves the right to report confirmed cheaters to local and national Quizbowl organizations.
Tournament Format
Games will consist of 20 tossup/bonus pairs, read in untimed matches. During play, we will use the following rules for timing:
Top finishers will qualify for the 2021 NAQT High School and/or Small School National Championships, as well as the 2021 PACE National Scholastic Championship. It is unknown exactly how these tournaments will be run, either online or in person (or at all).

- -$10 per staffer provided by the school (all staffers will be required to create a free account at http://www.naqt.com in order to access the online question delivery system)
- -$20 for any new school/program (a school that has never played at either an Ithaca Fall or Spring event in the past)

- After a player buzzes in, they will have 5 seconds to start their answer
- After a tossup is completed, teams will have 5 seconds to buzz in.
- After a bonus is completed, teams will have 8 seconds to give an answer.
