MTHS Academic Challenge: Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021

The Manheim Township Quiz Bowl team is happy to announce our return to hosting in-person quiz bowl events with the Manheim Township High School Academic Challenge on Saturday, December 18th at Manheim Township High School in Lancaster, PA. The school address is 115 Blue Streak Blvd, Lancaster, PA 17601 if using a GPS. (Note: We are not located in Manheim!)

Question Set:
This tournament will use NAQT’s IS-207A. This is an introductory set and will be used for both divisions.

Divisions:
The field will be divided into two divisions. Teams may select either division when registering. We reserve the right to move a team if we feel a team is placed inappropriately.

The varsity division is open to all teams. Teams that want to qualify for nationals must compete in the varsity division.

The JV/Novice division is designed for jv teams, novice teams, and those made primarily of 9th and 10th graders. If you aren’t sure which division is appropriate for your team, please ask!

Field
The field will be restricted to the first 24 teams that register, with some reasonable division between varsity and jv teams. Additional teams will be placed on the waitlist and continue to be added to the field as space allows.

Chaperones
Our district is enforcing the PA Child Abuse Clearance rules. This means that every team must be accompanied by an adult with current, valid, PA clearances, as approved by your school district.

Covid Policies
All attendees must agree to abide by Manheim Township School District’s Health and Safety Plan to attend the tournament. Teams must acknowledge all requirements on the registration form to register.

Lunch
Lunch will not be available on campus. Over an hour will be provided for lunch, and all teams are asked to go somewhere outside of the building during this time. A list of local restaurants will be provided prior to the tournament. There are a lot of options in Manheim Township.

Fees
The cost is $80 per team.
Discounts of -$15 per experienced moderator/scorekeeper and -$5 per buzzer system will be awarded.
The minimum price per team is $40.
Teams will receive an invoice to confirm their cost within a few days of completing the registration.
