MIST (Mid-Summer Individual Science Tournament) - August 1st - 10th

The Mid-Summer Individual Science Tournament (MIST) team is happy to announce its first competition this summer. We are going to be honesting a Quizbowl Science Solo tournament on August 10th. I, Aldric Benalan, and Akul Dixit will be the Tournament Directors for this competition.

Date and Time
The tournament will be held on August 10th, with an approximated starting time of Noon EST, and end at around 4-5 PM EST.

Questions and Format
We will be using custom-written questions, with a difficulty starting with HS Regs for preliminary rounds to HS Regs+ to HS Nats for playoffs. All of the questions will be under the category of science, and they will be tossup only.

Eligibility
This tournament is solo, therefore you will play as your own team. This tournament will be eligible for all high schoolers and middle schoolers, including those that have graduated in 2021.

Registration and Fees
The solid, non-negotiable cost as of 7/18 is $20. The cost might vary as time progresses closer to the tournament date.

Staffers
Fill out this form if you are interested in staffing for the MIST Quizbowl Science tournament, https://forms.gle/UXgaF3HMyzfttYM77. Staffers can either choose to be paid $30 or service hours for staffing.

Cheating and Misconduct
Cheating will be taken seriously and all competitors, spectators, and coaches must comply with the PACE Code of Conduct. Please report any misconduct to the tournament directors.

Note: MIST is also hosting Science Bowl competitions, specialized for each field of science, and one tournament for all fields. The Science Bowl tournaments will have 2 divisions, and you can find more information by going to https://mist.science/

The Art of Problem Solving (AoPs) has given us gift certificates and discounts on their products. WolframAlpha has provided us with subscriptions of their Wolfram|Alpha Notebook Edition.
