Prison Bowl XII Mirrors
Posted: Wed Aug 08, 2018 9:18 pm
Hello all,
Prison Bowl XII may be ready for mirrors by early March 2019. The set is a normal Prison Bowl (reg+/nats-) and will be written entirely by members of Hunter Quiz Bowl as of now (this may change if deemed necessary).
The set will consist of thirteen 21/21 packets (20 pyramidal, powermarked tossups, 20 three-part bonuses, and an extra tossup and bonus for tiebreakers). Each tossup will be 500-600 characters long and each full bonus totaling at most 8 lines in 10 point Times New Roman font.
Aside from standard quiz bowl answer lines, the set will also feature some original common-link questions, descriptive answer-lines, and cross-categorical/interdisciplinary questions. We hope that these non-conventional questions will keep veteran players interested. However, less experienced players will get and learn stuff as well, as the set as a whole is geared to minimize the advantages gained from "studying canon" over general knowledge. The set is also geared towards hopefully lessening some trends within the traditional distribution in terms of emphasizing certain topics over others (modern art/music over art/music before the Romantic era, relative lack of medieval history, relative lack of non-East Asia Asian history, etc.) while keeping the difficulty accessible through the more non-traditional answerlines.
