The 2019 Scottie - Available for 2019-20 season

Post by Scottietodd »

RECENT EDITS IN BOLD

Hello everyone,

I am please to offer the 2019 Scottie for mirrors during the fall of 2019 and early spring of 2020. The actual Scottie will be played at Glasgow High School on Saturday, September 21, 2019 and mirrors may be held beginning with that date.

Distribution and writing details for the Scottie can be found here: http://hsquizbowl.org/db/tournaments/5793/
The Scottie is intended as a regular difficulty tournament for high school and should be very similar to last year's Scottie, which has been uploaded to the High School Quiz Bowl Packet Archive and can be viewed here: http://quizbowlpackets.com/2291/

We were very pleased with the response we received from teams who played last year's Scottie, but are committed to writing an even better set this year. As last year was our first mirror offering, we will be making improvements in regards to pronunciation guides, alternate answerlines, and difficulty of bonuses based on excellent feedback offered by mirror hosts. While we are making those improvements, it is fair to say that it would be best for novice teams to avoid the Scottie. We are considering putting together a, "Scottie Junior", in which we will cannibalize the 15 rounds to create 8-10 rounds that would be more user friendly to fledgling teams. If that is something that anyone would be interested in, please indicate so on this thread. Updated. This will happen. Here is the Butterscot viewtopic.php?f=109&t=22978.

The mirror fee for the Scottie will be $10 per team. We do expect appropriate statistics to be kept and uploaded. Changes of any kind should not be made to the Scottie by mirror hosts without approval, and the Scottie should not be distributed electronically for any reason without approval.

We hope you have a great season in 2019-20!

Coach Garrison,

We'd like to mirror the Scottie again this year for our Piasa Bird Invite on January 11, 2020. It was a great set last year and we'd love to use it again.

All the best.

I'd like to use the Scottie on the same day you're hosting your tournament: September 21, 2019. Please let me know if that's convenient.

Please check out the Butterscot!...an "easier" version of the Scottie for more inexperienced teams.

Coach Garrison,

My name is Adam Pinson and I am the coach at Central Alabama Community College but also help out with the Sylacauga High Quizbowl program We would be interested in mirroring Scottie for this year's Aggie Invitational on October 5 at Sylacauga High in Sylacauga, AL if you are amenable to this. My e-mail is [email protected] if that would be more convenient.

Best,
Adam Pinson

Todd,

Fort Osage High School would like to use the SCOTTIE for our March "24/7" Tournament. We had multiple national qualifying teams at this tournament last year, and would like an appropriate set for those schools. Please let me know. Thanks, Josh Malecki
