The BUTTERSCOT

Post by Scottietodd »

Hello everyone,

I am excited to announce the first ever BUTTERSCOT! (Kudos to Josh Rutsky for the catchy title.)

The Butterscot will be an update, or companion, to the 2019 Scottie that will be more friendly for novice to middle of the road high school teams.

(The 2019 Scottie can be seen here)

By removing some of the more difficult answerlines, shortening some tossups, and writing some additional content, the 15 packets that comprise the Scottie will be condensed/cannibalized into 8 - 10 packets. The distribution will be the same as the Scottie.

Weaker or younger teams that played last year's Scottie struggled, leading to very low PPB and conversion rates in some instances. While we are working hard to make our improvements based on feedback from last year's Scottie, we anticipate the difficulty level to still be beyond what is recommended for beginning or rebuilding teams.

We expect to have the Butterscot available to mirror by mid-October. If there is enough interest in 12 rounds for these questions, we can have that ready by January of 2020.

Feel free to reach out with questions or mirror requests both here and on the 2019 Scottie page. Thank you!

Current Mirrors:
Lawrence County League (AL) - Ongoing
Waynedale Invitational - Waynedale High (OH) - October 12, 2019
Herrin High School (IL) - November 2, 2019
Dorman (SC) - January 18

Hello, we would possibly like to mirror the Butterscot in Lawrence County. Do you have a sample? Thanks

Would teams be able to do both BUTTERSCOT and Scottie or is there too much correlation between the two sets? Thanks in advance.

Seeing as BUTTERSCOT is just condensed Scottie questions with most of the answerlines kept, no.
