In addition to NAQT's official liveblog, various staffers (readers as well as statisticians) and teams will be posting scores, most likely using the #msnct hashtag on twitter.

Why does St. John's have a card in with all the 6-2 teams?

naqt.com wrote:In the last round of the 2016 MSNCT, a moderator misread a computation question; a team (St. John's A) answered the question correctly in the form it was read (and was initially counted wrong). Upon review, NAQT decided that its rules did not address the situation. In consultation with NAQT's membership, the tournament director resolved the situation by seeding the losing team (official record 5-3) as if it had finished with a record of 6-2 (because a correct answer would have flipped the outcome of the game). (The opponent, St. Mark, will continue to be seeded as per its official record, also 6-2).

Congratulations to Middlesex Middle School of Darien, Connecticut! Middlesex defeated Longfellow Middle School (Falls Church, Virginia) 445-385 in a one-game final to win the 2016 NAQT MSNCT. Challenger-Ardenwood (Newark, California) finished third; Chamblee Middle School (Chamblee, Georgia) placed fourth.

Complete team and individual statistics are now available.

Assuming everyone (or a sufficient subset) can agree on a version of events, this is covered by existing rules. If a moderator read it wrong, that's like if it was written wrong.

Congrats to Longfellow A and Middlesex A on an intense final, and to the Middlesex program as a whole on a truly impressive weekend.

Chamblee Middle School had an excellent time at the tournament! I am always astounded by the level of organization at MSNCT and HSNCT and by how smoothly things run in spite of the large field. The tournament moderators were some of the best I have encountered. All readers were professional, clearly well trained, and nice to the middle school kids. Thanks to everyone involved with organizing and working at this exceptional event.

Congratulations to Middlesex on a well-deserved victory. I did not get to see Longfellow play but Middlesex was a step above any of the teams that I saw.

We did not in fact have universal agreement as to the details of the situation. In addition, we did not find out about this until well after the conclusion of play Saturday, at which point it was not viable to reassemble the teams who played in this game. We believe that our resolution of this incident was the fairest possible under the non-standard conditions involved.

Oh, I do agree (I thought it was exceedingly clever)! I was talking in a more abstract sense -- TDs of events should know that less thorny examples of this (say, a moderator reading the wrong date in a tossup) is covered by the same rules as the question having an incorrect clue.

The podcasts for the 2016 MSNCT state that they occurred in Dallas, but it occurred in Atlanta. Can we have that changed?

Fixed; sorry about that!
