SNICK @ University of Minnesota - Weekend of 8/18

Post by InvadErGII »

I'll be holding a SNICK event the weekend of 8/18 to coincide with the local NASAT mirror. The exact date/time, as well as tournament format, are TBD, but I'm encouraging anyone who really wants to play this to play it here - let's call this the 'flagship' SNICK tournament. Cost will be $15 per player.

I'm hopeful to have enough people that this can be played in teams. You can sign up to play here. Go ahead and note your rad 90s-inspired team names, as well as any preference you might have on when during the weekend this takes place. A free agent column is there too if you don't have a team.

I'll probably be at this. I'll likely be pretty bad due to being born in 1995, but I can hopefully nab some video games and music points at the very least. Contact me if you wish to team up.

Is this not happening at UIUC?

As of today, I haven't been approached about any other mirrors of this (though I know side event weekend plans are still coming together, generally). Depending on the amount of overlap, it could certainly still be held at both sites.

Update - as has been noted elsewhere, this will be the lone midwest site for SNICK (at least, for now).

This (and, I assume, other MNASAT side events) will be held on Sunday, August 19. $15 per player, field cap of 12 teams. There will be a bunch of awesome 90s-oriented prizes - I plan on getting some good stuff for the winners. As before, you can sign up here.

Do you know if this will be the first such event on Sunday?

This isn't set in stone, but I would say that's my intention, yes.

Hey! If you're playing in this, please be at Room 150 in Blegen Hall (the usual place) by 8:45am or so on Sunday to check in. If you still need to sign up, the sheet is in the OP.

Congrats to Two Guys, Two Girls and a Pizza Place (Samantha Ross, Ashley Mergens, Derek Sillerud and Steve Ogdahl), who defeated an unnamed team featuring Rob, Andrew, Carsten, and Shan in the first game of a two-stage final to win SNICK. Stats are available here.

Thanks to everyone who played!
