IQBT Looking for Host for 2020 NASAT Main Site

Post by AKKOLADE »

International Quiz Bowl Tournaments is looking for a host for the 2020 National All-Star Academic Tournament's main site.

IQBT can offer up to $1000 in compensation to the host. This compensation includes payment for requirements of using the facilities, such as room reservation fees or janitorial fees. The tournament site can be a high school or college.

A strong host site will have the following qualities:

* Location near major airports
* Geographic location making it possible for teams to drive to the tournament location
* Location relative to strong, reliable staffers, minimizing the use of flights or hotel rooms for staff
* Ability to secure rooms via reservations made months ahead of the tournament, for both days of the tournament
* Availability of wifi to tournament staff
* Climate control in all rooms
* Tournament site location relative to transportation

Viable weekends for hosting NASAT are June 13-14, June 20-21, and June 27-28.

For further information, please me at [email protected].

I've just emailed 30+ prospective hosts for NASAT. I hope to have a site announced by the end of the year. My goal is to not be in Lexington this year.

A host had been picked up they’re having issues reserving rooms. They have a deadline later this month to get rooms by. If they don’t, then I have a back up lined up (that isn’t Lexington).

NASAT will be held at Ohio State the weekend of June 20. A full announcement will be posted this week, unless I’m completely buried alive by my day job.

Is there a possibility down the line to host a NASAT outside of Ohio?
Columbus is definitely a more ideal site compared to Lexington, however air travel there is quite expensive for West Coast teams.
