Me - Lee Henry

Post by quizbowllee »

No. I'm not dead.
Yes. I did resign from Brindlee Mountain.
Yes. I hope to coach somewhere else.
No. The ridiculous rumors you may have heard about why I resigned are not true.
Yes. My reasons for resigning are personal and family-related.
No. I will not go into more detail. Please respect my privacy in this matter.
Yes. My resignation was amicable. I still have a great personal and professional relationship with the administration of BMHS.

Basically, I did what was in the best interest of my family, who will ALWAYS come first. Beyond that, I have nothing left to say on the matter.

Thanks to everyone who has expressed concern. I'm fine. But ridiculous rumors don't help.

Thanks,

Lee

Thanks to all the well-wishers. I've got some irons in the fire. I'm hoping to be able to make a BIG announcement before the end of the summer regarding where I may (or may not) be coaching next year.

And Mark, I will always welcome your help. You guys will always be family to me.

I appreciate the support from everyone. Unfortunately, things aren't looking great for me right now. I've had a lot of leads on positions, and was even led to believe that I had one in the bag, but nothing has panned out. As school gets closer and closer to starting, it's looking less and less likely that I will be coaching anywhere this coming school year. I'm going to have to start looking for work outside of teaching for at least a while.

However, I still plan to remain active in some capacity. If anyone needs questions edited or written, please contact me. I could definitely use the money. Also, if I'm not coaching, I will make a few appearances in "open" events. Quiz bowl is a true love of mine and I don't plan to abandon it.

Thanks again for all the support and please keep me and my family in your thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,

Lee

Yeah, every year at CR we have about 2-3 teachers hired the day school starts or in the beginning of the second week. I think you'll find something considering you have more experience than a lot of others searching for teaching jobs. Chin up.

Seriously, Matt and Andrew are right. I got hired two days before school started at Hoover. You still have opportunities to come. I had my surgery today and am out for a couple days minimum, but i will be talking to my principal about job openings next chance I get, and am letting a few other contacts know there's a good coach available.

I don't know we have any unfilled vacancies in the English Department at Richard Montgomery, but having another coach, especially an experienced one, would be pretty awesome. And Richard Montgomery is a fantastic school (one of the best in the country) with awesome students and awesome teachers (especially in the English department), and Montgomery County is really a great place to live. So it'd be awesome if you at least check and see if there are any vacancies here.
Thanks.

If you are willing to relocate to Denver (and start weaning Colorado off Knowledge Bowl), I see a couple of English teacher jobs for middle school and high school at the Denver Public Schools website:

http://teachindenver.dpsk12.org/all_positions

For a more nationwide search (in case you haven't tried this one yet), http://www.teacherjobs.com/ says it's free for teachers.

Good luck; if you can teach math and/or science as well, you will have a lot better luck.

Walnut Hills High School has been growing rapidly recently and the past several years we've hired many new teachers, some of them immediately before or after the school year started. Assuming the pattern continues, it'd be awesome if you could come to Cincinnati and teach (probably better than some of the new people who are being hired the last couple of years) and we would love another quizbowl coach to help out. We are a very high-quality school with a diverse student body made up of students from all over the district and a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, and many teachers I've spoken to who have taught elsewhere say that the students here and the teaching environment are far superior to other high schools they've experienced.

EDIT: I asked, and they're not hiring anyone this year. Sorry.

Sussex Central is a pretty good school, they don't have a quizbowl team, you'd be living in a semi-rural area (so not a drastic change), and you'd be like 15-20 miles from the beautiful Delaware beaches!

I suppose it's worth mentioning publicly that Georgetown Day School in Washington, DC has had no quizbowl coach at all for the past year, and currently doesn't have one lined up for next school year either, but is looking to obtain one soon.

I read this and thought Sussex Central in Virginia, which would be awesome because the Southside/Tidewater Area isn't an area where good quizbowl has spread, for the most part.

Can we get someone to do an overly dramatic voiceover and post a file of it just before 7 PM?

Not sure what to make of the Eagles comment... Is he moving outside of Philadelphia? Or is that the nickname of his new school? Sussex Central is the Knights, and Georgetown Day School doesn't appear to have a nickname anywhere on their web site.

Well he mentioned earlier in the thread that he wasn't relocating, so it's somewhere in Alabama. And one of Brindlee's former players thinks he knows what school it is, so it's probably somewhere local.

Maybe we'll get some updates from J. A. Adande, Ric Bucher, or Chris Broussard. They were all over the Lebron signing, so surely they'll be covering this more important story!

Well come on, Coach Dennis, in the LeBron thing, we had it narrowed down to 4 specific locales; Chicago, Miami, Cleveland, and New York.

Give us names!
