The fee for each of the two main events separately is $110, which includes box lunches. The total fee for teams attending both main events is $200, which includes box lunches for both events. Quick lunches will help us keep on schedule and maximize match opportunities for all teams.

Inquiries and registrations should be sent to Chris Romero at romeroc-at-gmail.com. Registration is now open. We hope to see you all here in Texas next Spring.

Out of simple curiosity, how many schools (and which ones) have registered for this Texas Invitational as of Sept 1, 2010?

Bellarmine would like to come to this, and our coach likes the idea too, but the current date conflicts with the West Coast Invitational, which could prevent more than just our team from attending.

How about the weekend of April 23rd? That is the only other one we seem to have available at the moment.

I can say for sure that this date would work better for our team but will reserve any official declaration that this is the case until I've contacted my coach.

LASA is of course in for this with all four teams, pretty much regardless of when it is. Also, we'd love to see Bellarmine come down to Houston. I hope you guys are able to make it.

For what it's worth, I forgot to mention that Chattahoochee would certainly NOT be able to attend if the dates of the event were moved to the weekend of April 23rd.

I think the Golden Horde at Cistercian Prep School would be up for some high school competitions.
It would certainly be a good time of the year to clear the cobwebs before graduation and Atlanta.
We'll seriously look at this tourney as the date draws nigh!

Not to be pushy at all, but has a date been set yet? I know there was some discussion between the first weekend of April and a later one. If we are to attend, I need to put in the request as soon as possible.

I am still working on the date issue. I know it conflicts with the UCLA event in both time and sets. There are a couple of options being explored. One option is to not host the NAQT-SCT set and instead do a weekend with two mACF sets. Another option is a date change. We could move it to April 30th; I was previously considering April 23rd but realized that weekend is Easter. We are in communication with various teams to check their availability. I am dedicated to providing high quality tournament opportunity for as many high school programs who are able to travel to Texas as possible. If any additional teams are interested in coming in April, please drop me an email to romeroc at gmail dot com.

So the short version is that I am working on it and hope to have this all sorted out shortly. Please be patient and stay tuned. I will let everyone know as soon as I know.

Perhaps this event could run the Division I SCT set rather than the Division II set? Looking at the caliber of teams currently interested, I have no doubt that this set would distinguish between attending teams (except for potentially less-than-accessible trash).

The D1 SCT set they made last year was laughably inappropriate for Division 1 in college, much less a high school event. I would strongly discourage any prospective high school hosts from using that level of a set.

Also Matt Bollinger pointed out the obvious to me just now, the sets overlap so there would still be a conflict.

If the date is moved back it could use the DII ICT. Also another problem with a DI thing is that I think NAQT lets its high school writers contribute to the DI SCT and ICT, but neither for DII. I'm not sure if any prospective players are NAQT writers or if they've written for the DI SCT.

At this point, it looks like there are enough available sets of appropriate difficulty that people should be able to play D2 SCT at their local sites (WCI, Midwest, etc) without having to worry that this tournament would lack usable sets.

I think the worry is that the announcement promised one mACF and one NAQT set for the weekend, and it would be nice to retain that symmetry/variety. DII ICT would be amazing, although writer conflicts would need to be checked.

Ok I can speak to two issues recently brought up.

A) Div II ICT is available.

B) I cannot make a tournament work on Easter Sunday. However, I can make it work on Friday, April 22nd and Saturday April 23rd. Teams could use Easter Sunday to travel back home.

I am doing this based on memory so records may be slightly off:

LASA went 16-0 to win this event. Dorman finished 14-2 in 2nd and Seven Lakes A finished 12-4 in 3rd. Cistercian A finished in 4th.

Full results to follow after I have had a chance to input stats.

Unless the results are based off anything but record, LASA B came in fourth - we beat Cistercian the second time around in the playoffs, and were tied in record before that.

I was mistaken. LASA B was #4 and Cistercian was #5. At this moment we are missing one consolation scoresheet that I am trying to find.

The second TI event was contested between five teams: LASA, Dorman, Seven Lakes, UT old folks and a mix team of Seven Lakes, Cinco Ranch and St. Stephens.

LASA finished 7-1, sweeping Dorman (5-3) and splitting with Seven Lakes (4-4).
Seven Lakes and Dorman also split, but Seven Lakes was swept by the Texas Exes/almost-exes (4-4), who were swept by both Dorman and LASA.

Stats forthcoming from Chris Romero, probably tomorrow?

Props to Adam Escandell and UT for a mollusk-inspired victory to complete the day. (Believe me, that comment refers to nothing within a question set that may or may not be cleared.)
