Hey, something came up on this particular weekend that makes me unable to leave home. That stinks, but it's something i really can't avoid. We really wanted to come this time around. Good luck anyway.

Charter is expressing interest in this tournament and if possible we would like to bring 3 (or more teams if possible)

At the bottom of a post, there are buttons to view poster's profile, send a pm, or get their email address. That's the address you should use to contact me, if you need it.

We have just reached 36 teams, with a few on the wait list. You can still send in registrations, as I will likely expand the field.

OK, I'll fall for the bait: What's a "Wissahickon" , whether affiliated or not?

A neighborhood in Philly, apparently. With team who is not affiliated with the neighborhood's HS, and has not picked an alternative name yet.

So, they ARE high school students all attending the same high school, just not wishing to be affiliated with their own high school and simply seeking an alternative name? Is this correct? If so, Wissahickon seems to be a an excellent, indeed, a neighborly, moniker. :)

Meanwhile, since you announced the possibility of expanding the field to 40 or 42, Saint Joe's would love to add a 3rd team if in fact there is now room for it. Just let us know in a timely fashion if this is agreeable so my bursar can write a check revised upward to pay for this 3rd SJHS team.

Thanks.

Hi, just to clear things up, I'm the student who registered the Wissahickon team. I attend Wissahickon High School (no surprise there) and I'm trying to organize a quiz bowl team there this year, but the administration is pretty annoying when it comes to starting a new extracurricular activity, so it's not an "official" school team yet. We still want to go to the tournament, though, because of how close it is and for the experience. You could say that we wish to eventually be affiliated with our high school, but we're not just yet. :)
So yeah, I was assuming that we would just be listed as "Wissahickon High School", rather than with a different name "from the Wissahickon area". Sorry for the confusion earlier.

Yes, well, not being affiliated, I can't call you Wissahickon High School, regardless of what you may be later. We had a lot of issues with naming in Ohio, when teams went without HS approval, so you have to call yourself something else. It's a chance to come up with the most surreal or topic nickname you can think of, within the bounds of decency. Just let me know what you guys like.

As for the teams up to 42, I already have a wait-list of schools that are waiting on getting their first team in, I'm just confirming them before I post a final list. Sorry.

Kellenberg will only be sending at most one (1) team to PHSAT, and even that is uncertain. We will let you know solidly by Tuesday evening.

Any news on the outcome of the tournament?

When we left after the Quarterfinals, I believe Hunter A was playing Hunter B in one Semifinal, while Bergen A was playing either Charter A or Charter C.

Beyond this I do not know.

Hunter A beat Bergen A for 1st.
Hunter B beat Charter A for 3rd.

I'm typing up a results announcements even now, it will be posted soon.
