BMI: Bloomington Mirror of IMSANITY

Post by Dominator »

This is an official announcement for BMI: Bloomington Mirror of IMSANITY at Bloomington High School in Bloomington, IL on January 15, 2011.

The tournament will be run on the IMSANITY set, written and edited by the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy scholastic bowl team in mACF format. For more information about the questions, please see this. Play will be 5 v. 5. The structure of the tournament will feature some sort of bracketed round robin system, depending on the number of teams.

The goal is to get as many matches (minimum 7) in as possible between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., with a lunch break in there somewhere. A coaches' meeting will take place at 8:30.

The cost will be $65 for the first team from each school and $55 for subsequent teams. There will be a $10 discount for each functional buzzer system and for each experienced moderator a school brings.

Please contact me with any questions or concerns at nprince @ imsa . edu.

URBANA?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

This excites me like no other. All that's left are getting St. Thomas more to play circuit tournaments, and to get a team at Urbana's U-High.

I sent out an invitation email to HS-STM and even got a positive-sounding response from their coach. It looks like Donald Taylor might be having an extra-merry Christmas.

Yea, nice try. There are still a number of issues with that part of the state, which won't be fixed until the knuckleheads get the boot.

While registration has closed, it has left the field at 9 teams. As 10 is a better number for tourney structure, we would very much like to find one more team.

Quick Results:
Glenwood A went 9-0
Champaign Centennial went 8-1
Springfield A went 7-2
Glenwood B went 6-3
Dunlap went 4-5 (lost two matches on tiebreakers to Champaign Centennial and Springfield B)
Springfield B went 4-5
Bloomington A went 4-5
Bloomington Central Catholic went 2-7
Springfield C went 1-8
Bloomington B went 0-9.

I thought the top three teams here all had some really good buzzes. The math and the trash received complements.
