The Quizbowl Resource Center

We'd like to invite teams back to UCSD for our third annual Triton Fall Tournament (TFT), which will be held on November 12th on the UCSD campus, likely in the same location (the HSS building) as most of our high school tournaments. The questions this time will be from HSAPQ.

NATIONAL QUALIFIER: We will be seeking PACE affiliation with TFT, wherein the top percentage of teams at TFT will qualify for the 2012 PACE National Scholastic Competition.

FORMAT: We plan to run a similar format of initial round-robins followed by a playoff regrouped round-robin. Matches will again be 20 tossups and up to 20 bonuses.

REGISTRATION: Please only officially register by emailing us at ucsdqb [at] gmail.com once you can be fairly certain you'll be able to come so that we don't have teams dropping out 24 hours before the tournament or not showing up at the tournament and messing up the schedule. Letting us know that you're interested is also encouraged, even if you can't commit to register yet. Posting in this thread does not count as an official registration.

We'll be implementing a few changes in the interest of making the tournament run faster:

Teams will be allowed to have 5 players total, so 4 players and one alternates. When you register, please send us a roster with who will be on your team early on so we can set up our stat-keeping software in advance. Subsequent roster changes are fine, but the more information we have now the better.

FEES:
Base fee (first team): $80
Second team and subsequent teams from the same school: $60 each
*Teams in difficult financial situations should contact us directly to discuss possible options
**We're also more than happy to help with ideas on how to raise funding through quizbowl activities like tournament hosting or writing questions

Discounts:
-$40 per team for new schools
-$20 for a competent moderator
-$10 for a competent scorekeeper
-$5 for buzzer system
-$5 for every 50 miles traveled, one-way, as judged by google maps from the school to UCSD

We've got a little over a week until this tournament. La Jolla, RB, and other regular circuit schools should sign up soon.

Rancho Bernardo will come with at least 1 team and 1 buzzer

I'm announcing a temporary cap of 20 teams until I confirm the number of moderators that we have. Also, we need a lot more buzzers and are offering a discount, so schools that have buzzer systems should bring them.

We have now expanded our field to 25 teams. We'll most likely cap it at this number of teams unless we get more moderators and buzzers.

I expected Torrey Pines to be better when we played them....bad day?

Anyways, any suggestions for University to become better? We lost all of our seniors and we're back to base one.
Also, when is Triton Winter?
