Journey to the East (East Chapel Hill, NC), 3/9/13
East Chapel Hill is excited to announce the 1st Journey to the East on Saturday, March 9, 2013. We expect the tournament to not exceed the bounds of 8:30-5:30. The tournament is open to any high school team.
We will be mirroring Ladue's LIST III; the set has been very well-reviewed in the past, and should be equally wonderful this year.
Our goal is a field size of 24, with round-robin preliminaries in several divisions in the morning, followed by rebracketing and round-robin playoffs in the afternoon. This should give each team at least 10 games. More details (and possible modifications) on format to follow.
To register, please send an email to echhsquizbowl{at}gmail.com with the number of teams and buzzers you are planning to bring, as well as any contact information. The registration deadline will be one week before the tournament, or 3/2/13.
The fees will be structured as follows:
$75 for the first team from each school
$50 for any other teams from that school
-$10 per buzzer set
-$10 for exceptional distance travelled (100+ miles)
We will accept payment in cash or check (made payable to "ECHHS Quiz Bowl") on the day of the tournament. If you would prefer to send in payment early, give us a heads-up.
Any further questions should also be directed to echhsquizbowl{at}gmail.com. We look forward to seeing you at the tournament!

We have received platinum affiliation from PACE, so the top 25% of the field will qualify for the 2013 NSC.

Due to the limited number of signups, it looks like we won't need any more buzzers or staffers.

Hopefully everyone enjoyed the set today! Please remember not to publicly discuss any specifics, as there are still other mirrors yet-to-happen. A private discussion forum has been set up; to join it, go to user control panel (at top left of this page) --> usergroups (one of the tabs) --> toggle "LIST III discussion" and press join selected.

Regardless of field size, possibly the most well-run tourney of the year. Quite the entertainment. Hats off to Jacob and the staff.
