NorCal NAQT State Championship-April 6 in Berkeley

UC Berkeley and the Bay Area Academic League are pleased to issue a preliminary announcement for the Northern California state championship, which will be held on UC Berkeley's campus on Saturday, April 6, 2013. Registrations should be sent to the California Cup organizers, who are co-hosting this event, at californiacupquizbowl[AT]gmail[dot]com. It will be run on NAQT's specially produced state championship set, which in the end will result in the awarding of the title of Northern California state champion to the winning team. There will also be a reserved berth to automatically qualify for NAQT's High School National Championship tournament to the top-placing team that has not already qualified to HSNCT in a previous tournament. There will be no timed rounds or math computation. Questions and inquiries should be directed to the previous email. This tournament is open to all interested teams (i.e. no prior qualification is necessary to compete).

The fee structure is as follows:
Base fee $90
Discounts:
$30 for a moderator
$10 per buzzer
$15 per 75 miles traveled (applies for one way only)
$35 NEW TEAM discount

We will have a JV division and a Varsity division. Teams may enter whichever division they wish, but *only Varsity teams can directly qualify for HSNCT*.
Registration begins at 9:00AM in 225 Dwinelle and the competition will begin at 9:30AM.
