The Quizbowl Resource Center

College decisions are starting to roll out en masse, so I wanted to start up the annual "Where will you be going to college next year?" thread for those who want to keep the community informed, or perhaps reach out to college teams reading the boards, or hear about other students who'll be attending the same school. As board staff have noted in previous years, the purpose of this thread is to give answers of the form "I am going to college Y and will be playing quizbowl there." I'll be really unhappy if anyone starts bragging about multiple acceptances (come on, dude - you can only go to one school in the end), requesting decision help, or saying other things that shouldn't go here besides "I am going to college Y and will be playing quizbowl there".

I'm going to UIUC next year, and I will be playing quizbowl there.

I'm going to Amherst College next year. I'm not sure if they actually have a legit quiz bowl team (though Amherst did recently attend the last NAQT SCT Region 1). Hopefully they do, because I'm looking forward to playing college quiz bowl.

I will be attending Yale University (that Y college), and plan to at least dip my toes into the dark and mysterious world of college quizbowl.

I'm going to Northwestern next year and plan on playing quizbowl.

I'll be attending Georgia Tech next fall and will definitely continue quizbowl.

I'll be going to UMD and will probably continue playing quizbowl.

I'll be going to the University of Notre Dame in the fall, and would like to play quiz bowl there.

I will be attending Ohio State next year and intend to play quizbowl.

I will be attending Georgetown next year and hope to continue playing quiz bowl there.

Cool. There's not much of an active team, but I live about a mile from the campus and can help out with practices / any tournaments you want to run / buzzer loans /etc.

I'll be going to Columbia Law next fall, and I plan on playing at least a small amount of quizbowl. I'll be in New York around the beginning of August, if anyone wants to hold practices that early. If anyone from Columbia wants to add me to a list, my email is [email protected]

I'm glad to see that our lawyer quota will stay filled for years to come! Undergrads don't move in until August 31, but practice should begin pretty soon after that.

I will be attending William and Mary, and plan on playing quizbowl, although I haven't been able to find any information about their team.

Also, is anybody doing the U.S. Geography Challenge at Nationals?

I will be playing for Wash U in St. Louis next year.

153 other people are at last count. I will try and get some sort of poster up where people can write down where they're going next year, and perhaps meet some future teammates. Also, Chris, I know William and Mary has a reasonably active team - they played the MUT) mirror in Richmond a few weeks ago, see: http://www.hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewto ... =8&t=14042 for the thread that has links to stats for their players.

Notre Dame does have an active team. I can put you in contact with the current leadership, if you would like.

I will be attending law school at William and Mary next year. The current team seems to be a bit disorganized, but hopefully a little more interest will help the team become more stable.

I will be attending Virginia Commonwealth University in the fall. I plan to play quiz bowl there

I'm heading to graduate school at the University of South Carolina this fall.

I plan to attend the University of Virginia in the fall and hope to continue quizbowl there.

I will be attending college Y next year and plan to poach music questions from my teammates if possible.

I will be attending Yale next year, and I'll probably continue to play quizbowl.

I'll be going to UChicago, where I intend to play quizbowl at a higher level than noted bad quizbowler Morgan Venkus.

I will be attending Georgia Tech in the fall and will likely play quiz bowl.

I'll be going to Michigan next year, where I plan on playing quizbowl.

Vanderbilt it is, and I will play quizbowl there.
The Circuit is/will be Real(-er)!

I'm going to the University of Washington next year where I will try not to suck and play some quizbowl.

I will be attending UC Berkeley where I hope Ankit and co. will not be disappointed that I'm not actually as good as they all think I am.

They played a couple of events this school year. Danny Chupin from LASA and Daniel Chapman from Seven Lakes are there, as well as one former St. Mark's guy whose name I can't unearth right now.

Jiawei is at UT, but not doing quiz bowl to my knowledge. The UT team we saw this school year was Daniel, Danny, Ellis Michael (West Monroe, LA, I believe) and Michael Patison (St. Mark's '12).

I'm headed to USC next year and I haven't seen their team playing in any tournaments recently, but I'd like to at least get a taste of college quizbowl. I know Thomas Gaddy from Blair is also going there so hopefully we could get something going.

It would be fantastic if this happened; check with some of the Southern California quizbowlers to see if there are other players attending.

As far as I know, the USC quiz bowl team is dead (though I'm not sure whether it was ever really alive...). In fact, the entire SoCal college quiz bowl circuit seems rather lacking (RIP Dwight), besides the still alive-and-kicking UCSD team.

If you're interested in starting a team at USC, which would be awesome, there are actually quite a few former Arcadia players attending the college right now. Jeff Xiao (class of 2011) and Chung Chan (class of 2012) come to mind. There are probably more that I'm missing. I think most of these guys have sort of given up on quiz bowl, but hey, it's worth a shot amirite?

I know at least one person at USC who would probably be interested in doing quiz bowl.

I have accepted a one-year professorship at the University of Minnesota Morris. This effectively means my quizbowl career as a student is over after five years. I take solace in the fact that my final win at ICT was against my nemesis Jarret Greene and my final win at ACF Nationals was against my other nemesis Marshall Steinbaum.
