The Advanced Math and Science Academy is pleased to announce the inaugural Central Mass. Fall NAQT High School Tournament, to be held on Saturday, November 23, 2013. We will be using set IS-129A. (This is a change from the “save the date post.”) We are working on also getting PACE affiliation.

If you are interested in registering, please email [email protected], including the number of teams and buzzers you plan on bringing. Please also include a contact name, email, and phone number that can be reached the day of the tournament. Space may be limited, so please register as soon as possible. The registration deadline will be November 19th because that is my birthday. Early registration really appreciated.

The pricing of the tournament is as follows:
- First team: $65
- Additional team: $55

The following discounts are available:
- Working buzzer system: - $10

On the day of the tournament, registration will take place from 8:15 to 8:45 AM, with an aim to begin round 1 at 9:00. Payment on day of registration preferred. Make checks payable to AMSA Charter School with Quiz Bowl in the memo section if possible.

AMSA is very easy to get to, centrally located in Massachusetts and just minutes off of Rte 495. There is plenty of free parking, even for big school buses.

Hope to see you there!

Although MIT is having it's SPLASH event this day, we've decided to keep this date. It's no longer tentative. Thanks for your patience and we hope to see many of you on the 23rd!

This tournament is Gold-Certified for PACE (top 20% qualify).

Also, top 15% qualify for HSNCT and top small school that is not in the top 15% will also qualify for SSNCT, Small schools in the top 15% automatically qualify for both.

Thank you to all the teams who came to our first tournament! We had a few glitches, but overall it went pretty well I thought. I hope you felt like you got your money's worth for today!

Congratulations to Acton Boxborough on the win!

Huge thanks to Stephen Eltinge who gave up a Saturday and helped up not only with stats but just his general tournament experience.

My students really enjoyed the experience of running a tournament. I encourage other schools in the area to take the plunge, pick a date, and go for it! I'm happy to offer any advice and share any resources that I have. AMSA will be there!
