Congratulations to Dupont Manual A, who beat Maggie Walker A in the finals of the Cavalier Open II today in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Detailed stats, playoff standings, and thanks will come within a day or two.

First off, I'd like to thank everyone who made this tournament such a smooth one, especially moderators Marian Suter, Joe Johnson of Bassett High School, Rob from St. Christopher's, Dan Goff and Dan Greenstein of Maryland, Chris Mantueffel, and all the members and friends of the UVA Academic Competition Club.

Individual high scorers were Michael Braun of Blake, Abhinav Kapur of Dupont Manual A, and Malcolm Neave of Dorman A. Richard Wanerman of Richard Montgomery B was the highest scoring JV player.

We played a 25 team playoff structure after 7 rounds of prelims, with the top 7 teams having first-round byes. The results of the playoff matches are as follows:

Dupont Manual A won the tournament after an extremely strong day (only one team scored more than 200 points against them). Maggie Walker A, who took second over-all, had to beat the second and third seeded teams to get to the finals. Congratulations to all teams in this extremely strong field. Regarding NAQT states- be aware that you will draw substantially fewer northern va teams than usual, as April 23 is the date of Richard Montgomery's Rumble on the Pike.

yeah sorry about messup number two. I must have gotten it confused with the joint college tournament we're holding. I've fixed it now.

UVA had a well-organized tournament with very good readers overall. I encourage teams that did not make it this year to consider attending their tournament in the future. Thanks to the UVA Academic Club for hosting the tournament!
