LIFT (Long Island Fall Tournament) XIV will be held on November 22, 2014 at Kellenberg Memorial High School, Uniondale, NY.

Information concerning LIFT XIV:

- $70.00 First team, $60.00 each additional team
- Discounts: $10.00/buzzer system, $10.00/moderator, $10.00/100 mile travel (based on Google maps from town to Uniondale, NY): maximum total discount $50.00
- NAQT IS-140 (20/20 untimed)
-We will have prelim. brackets, and then ranked playoff brackets and then crossover games.
-We are tentatively setting a limit of 36 teams, and a maximum of 3 teams/school. Additional teams will be placed on a wait list. Field may be expanded depending on the number of coaches who volunteer to moderate.
- Location: Kellenberg Memorial HS in Uniondale, Long Island, NY, 30 miles E of NYC, right off of Exit M4 West from the Meadowbrook Parkway. Recommendation: Those coming from the south of NYC should NOT go through the city. Use the Outerbridge or Goethals to Staten Island, then the Verazzano-Narrows to LI. - Registration is from 7:30 to 8:30 AM, with the first round starting at 8:45 AM. The last game should end around 6:00 PM.

Teams that were planning to play LIFT but are unable to get in, or find themselves deep on a waitlist, due to field size, are welcome to join us at Ithaca High School for the Third Annual BrainBusters Fall tournament on November 1, 2014, three weeks prior to LiFT. BB Fall will be using the same IS-140 question set as Brother Nigel and his crew at Kellenberg, and we currently have 16 teams officially registered with a field cap of 64. If you don't mind making the drive up to the beautiful Finger Lakes area of upstate New York, we'd love to have you at BB Fall, which we anticipate being the largest single-day quizbowl tournament ever held in upstate New York. We are also working with local hotels to reserve room blocks at discounted rates for teams from outside the immediate area who might want to drive in Friday night and stay the night before, stay Saturday night after the tournament, or both.

The Wheatley School would like to attend with 2 teams, 1 set of buzzers, and 1 moderator.

Ransom can definitely supply 1 moderator (yours truly). We would prefer not to fly with our system, but if slap-bowl is imminent due to field expansion, we can bring it.

Farmingdale sent an email and hopes to get into this event with one team.

Livingston sent an email and follow ups beginning a month ago to request a 3rd team for the competition, which appeared to be available at that point. We also can bring a buzzer or two as needed. Is there a field update? Thank you!

Just a quick update that Kings Park will bring two teams, three buzzer systems, and two moderators.

Unfortunately I will be unable to moderate at LIFT this year. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Scarsdale will only be able to bring one team to Kellenberg. We will still bring 1 buzzer and no moderators. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Field has been updated. Please let me know ASAP if you have any changes in what is listed so that those on the Waiting list can determine their fate.

Island Trees is ready to send 1 team, 1 buzzer system, and possible 1 moderator if moved from wait list.

Apologies for not dropping the 4th team earlier, but at this point it won't be feasible for us to arrange transportation and file paperwork with our school for bringing them.

After the preliminary rounds, the following teams are 5-0: Pingry A, GNS A, Ransom Everglades A, High Tech A, Seton Hall, Plainedge A. The 4-1 teams are Deep Green A, High Tech B, Charter A, Charter B, St. Joe's A, Livingston A, Kings Park A, Mountain Lakes A, North Babylon A and Millburn A. These teams will now be reranked into 2 top team brackets.

Charter A defeated Ransom Everglades A in a final championship crossover match by a score of 500-175.

Thank you Brother Nigel and Kellenberg High School for running such a great tournament! All of our teams really enjoyed it and had a great time! We will definitely do our best to be back again next year.

Top two teams in each Prelim bracket were placed into two 8 team brackets and then a crossover game was played to determine final places. Third place teams played in another 8 team bracket.
