New Jersey NAQT states date discussion

Post by Majin Buu Roi »

We apologize for the short notice, but we are proud to announce that Princeton University will be hosting the 2015 NAQT New Jersey State Championships on April 18th. The tournament will be open to any high school teams from the state of New Jersey (as well as teams from Delaware, with the approval of NAQT and so long as Delaware continues to lack its own state championship) and will use IS-146. Matches will be conducted according to the rules enumerated here (https://www.naqt.com/rules.html) with the exception that the matches will not be timed (halftime will be after question ten of twenty). Teams will be capped at six players each, although only four can play at a given time. Many details of the tournament, such as the structure thereof are still in flux at this time, unfortunately, but I will do my best to update everyone regularly with additional details as quickly as possible.

The preliminary fee structure for the tournament (subject to minor change) will be as follows:
$80 registration fee for first team
$60 registration fee for each subsequent team
-$10 discount for each experienced moderator (no limit)
-$15 discount for each experienced moderator with laptop (no limit; as at PHSAT XXII earlier this year, all scoring will be electronic, any moderator with out a computer will be matched with a staffer with one)
-$5 discount per buzzer system (no limit)
The minimum fee per school will be $50.

We will hopefully have a registration sheet up by tomorrow, but in the meantime, feel free to contact me at [email protected]

From what I know, Bergen County Academies has been planning on hosting a tournament that day: http://www.hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewto ... =1&t=16868

Michael is correct. This date has been claimed by my team for over two months.

My apologies for misdirecting the Princeton team about choice of dates. I have let them know about the conflict and we will look into alternate weekends.

Hello all. In light of Bergen's Spring Tournament, we will be moving the state championship to a later date (to be determined, though we consider the 25th to be optimal). We apologize for this whole snafu.

That would be the Saturday of NHBB nationals.

Upon looking through the tournament database and the forums and failing to find any claims for the 18th, we will provisionally move the date of the tournament to the 18th. If any other issues prevent us from using this date, we will move to May 2nd. For now, the main announcement will place the date on the 18th.

I had been expecting that April 18 would be no good for you because of ACF Nationals, but I see Princeton isn't going. I don't think there are any other QB events scheduled for that weekend, so it's worth a go.

East Brunswick will definitely be there and would further like to thank you for choosing literally the only date within the next two months which works for us!

Assuming that there is no championship for Delaware, I think Charter will be able to send a team since the schedules of some members of the team have cleared up on that day.

Hi, everybody, thank you for all your patience and feedback. I will starting a new thread in the next few days to officially announce the date (it will be the 18th) and to provide a link to the registration form (I'd do it now, but I'm waiting on our famously elusive treasurer to remind me where checks need to be made to).
