Livingston HS is planning to run its annual March Madness tournament on Saturday, March 19, 2016 on an NAQT IS set.

Columbia University will be hosting its fall tournament on October 17. It will be using BASK.

My alma mater as of 12 PM, East Brunswick, is tentatively looking to run an SSNCT mirror on Dec. 12.

The Charter School of Wilmington is tentatively claiming the date of October 17th for our invitational fall tournament on the BASK question set. More information (hopefully nothing pertaining to a date change) will be announced in the coming weeks.

BrainBusters Fall at Ithaca is scheduled for Saturday, November 14, using a NAQT IS set. The BrainBusters Solo tournament will be at Geneva HS, Geneva, NY, with a tentative date of February 6, 2016. It will mirror the 2015-16 New Trier Scobol Solo set. A tournament is also being scheduled for Cooperstown HS on December 12, 2015, with details and question set still undetermined.

Also, in case of certainly-possible inclement weather, BrainBusters Solo at Geneva has a backup date of April 23, 2016 (the weekend before SSNCT), at the same site.

Bloomfield High School will be hosting its B.A.T.E. Tournament Saturday, November 21, 2015. IS 152

LIFT XV will be on November 14 at Kellenberg Mem. HS in Uniondale, Long Island, NY

We will be using a NAQT IS set.

Princeton University Quiz Bowl would like to tentatively schedule PHSAT XXIII for September 26th.

Kings Park on Long Island will be hosting its annual tournament (KPAQT VI) on Saturday April 16, 2016 using an NAQT A set.

Bergen Academies is planning to host its annual fall middle school tournament, Bergen Junior 5, likely on October 24.
We are also planning our spring high school tournament, BASQT 2016, on a date to be determined. We are looking into options for the set.

Hunter College High School will be hosting its annual SCOP Novice Mirror on November 7, 2015.

In the spring, we'll be hosting Prison Bowl IX (using the housewritten set of the same name) on April 16, 2016 April 2, 2016. I'll make a forum post for this tournament once the school year begins.

Lexington will be hosting our housewrite On December 5th. Although this is an SAT date, we strongly encourage all teams in the region to come if possible.

Wilmington Charter is narrowing in on the dates of October 17th for our high school fall tournament, February 20th for a high school tournament on a harder set such as SCT, and March 5th for our annual middle school tournament. We are waiting on the final step in our school's date approval process and hope to confirm these dates shortly.

Delaware Valley High School (at the Tri-State point of PA/NY/NJ) has announced October 17 as the date for our High School Tournament. It would be easy access for schools from those three states and New England (just about an hour from the CT border).

East Brunswick High School in New Jersey will be hosting its tournament on February 27th rather than December 12th due to ACT testing at your school. We will still be playing with the 2015 SSNCT Nationals set (roughly equivalent to an IS set). If there is any concern, the national qualifications are the same (aka top 15%).

PHSAT XXIII will in fact be held on September 26th at Princeton using IS-148. I'll hopefully have a formal announcement and registration sheet up by the end of the weekend.

Columbia would also like to claim January 23 for our winter tournament, which will probably be held on GSAC, and with PACE NSC-style rules (20 point powers, no negs, bouncebacks). We would also like to claim March 26th for the third tournament in our Columbia Cup series, which will probably be the NAQT NY State tournament.

UB would like to also claim October 17th for Bull Bowl in the fall. We should also be running IS-148.

Cornell University will be hosting a mirror of BASK on October 10, 2015.

Some early NHBB dates:
Northern NJ (C Set) - Saturday, Nov. 14 or 21 (the 21st is the most likely, but not certain)
Bergen County (C Set) - Sunday (the day after whichever of the two dates above we go with)
Lower Hudson (C Set) - Saturday, Dec. 19 at White Plains High School.
NJ States - open as always to out of state teams (B Set) - Saturday Jan. 16 at Ridgewood High School. (80-100 teams expected)

Only the Lower Hudson date right now is confirmed, but we are working on the others (plus the other area dates) and will post those as soon as we have them (I don't really expect any changes from last year in the area in terms of the # of events, the sets they run on, or when they are held). I will direct all 4 of the above.
Also, Jon, can we get the usual calendar page at the top of this thread?

Both of those dates have already been claimed (by Kellenberg and Bloomfield, respectively).

Yes, I know that. We've also run this tournament on a Saturday in mid-November for some years now, and I do not have any qualms about doing so again this year - this should have been anticipated by anyone picking one of those dates.

November 14th is also HFT, which could siphon some teams as well. The 21st seems like the better option if it must be one of those two.

We're definitely aiming for the 21st. In the meantime, I can confirm that the NJ State Championships will be at Ridgewood High School on Saturday, January 16 (B Set).

Just a little calendar I put together with the first few months of the season in this region, because it makes everything a lot more convenient. I know that a calendar was going to be put up soon, but I just couldn't wait.

Has anyone booked Dec. 5 for area tournaments this year? Looking into whether that might be an option for Northern NJ on NHBB C Set. Let me know if that date is free or booked (getting a complete calendar for the year up would be most helpful at this point).

LIMIT at Lexington is that day, but I don't think that many NJ teams will be going to that.

Sorry that it took so long, I was basically trying to spend a few weeks, well, not caring about quiz bowl (or school stuff in general).

Anyway... Using Casey's post and NAQT's tournament list, I made a first draft of the calendar. I'll update it as I get a chance.

Due to conflict with ACF Nats (and King's Park) Hunter has moved Prison Bowl to April 2.

So NHBB Northern NJ is confirmed for Nov. 21 though I'm still waiting on the site. Hopefully Seton Hall, but if not, we'll look elsewhere to stay on that date. Bergen County HBB returns to Torah Academy in Teaneck on Sunday, Nov. 22. As this is pre-Thanksgiving weekend, I can be in the area and I will direct both of these, and both of these will use C Set. Is GSAC at St. Joe's looking at Dec. 12 or 19? I'd recommend Bloomfield to see about whether Dec. 5 or whichever date St. Joe's isn't going to use might be an option.

Wilmington Charter would like to claim February 20th for BMAD (Battle for Mid-Atlantic Dominance) which will run using SCT-D2. This tournament is intended for teams who are planning on attending a national tournament in the Spring and would like to play a challenging set to prepare. More details will be announced once we have received final confirmations on the date from our sister school (the school we share our building with). Our school has given us the thumbs up already.

Darien (CT) would like to tentatively claim April 16 for a yet-unnamed tournament. It should feature a "Nationals" division on a collegiate set in addition to the standard fare (likely an IS set). More info to come later.

Edit: Our advisor can no longer do April 16 - we are looking at January 30.

High Tech would like to claim March 5th for QuBIT II on the Maryland Spring set. A forum post with more details will follow once we secure school approval.

NHBB Updates:
Mid-Atlantic Championships (A Set) will be at Seton Hall University this year - most likely on (edit) March 12, just awaiting final confirmation

Western NJ and Southern NJ will have dates very soon - we've been in touch with Phillipsburg and Donovan Catholic respectively. We're talking to Princeton about holding our big fall C Set tournament there (it will be called Central New Jersey) - the date for that, even if it's not at Princeton, will be Nov. 21, since that's the day I'm in the area and can direct.

Sorry, I missed the post about High Tech wanting March 5- we'll go with March 12 for NHBB Mid-Atlantic then.

As per private discussions with the High Tech Team, the second annual Bergen Academies' Spring Quizbowl Tournament (BASQT) will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016. We are looking to cater to teams in the New York Metro Area, whereas High Tech will be serving southern New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. BASQT 2 will also be using a house written set of regular difficulty. Further details to follow in the official announcement.

BrainBusters Solo, a solo tournament with modified (powermatched) National History Bee format, but mirroring the 2016 New Trier Scobol Solo question set, is being tentatively scheduled for Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Geneva HS (Geneva, NY). Snow date will be in early April, date undetermined.

The HSAPQ information is correct.

Ramapo High School (NJ) would like to tentatively claim February 6 for its tournament. Other details or revisions are forthcoming.

Nov. 21 is confirmed for NHBB C Set at Princeton (this will be called the Central NJ History Bee and Bowl). The same set will be played the following day on Nov. 22 at Torah Academy in Teaneck for the Bergen County History Bee and Bowl.

Now that you have identified sites for you C packet, how does one register? The earliest registration site I see on your NHBB site is in January in Delaware. Is there another place to register?

If you scroll down on the list of dates, the earlier ones are at the bottom. Since they put zeroes in front of the 2016 dates, dates like 01/09 come before the dates like 11/21.

I really don't mean to be a jerk, but I'd like to echo something from the NE thread:

It has been a month and a half. Can we please have an update of the calendar? If it is too much of a hassle, I am happy to maintain the calendar from next year forward.

I don't think there are any new tournaments that aren't already on the calendar. I could be wrong, but I don't think it's worth updating (or complaining about).

I apologize, I didn't see Eric's calendar. Still, though, the calendar up top was supposed to be done and updated a while ago and never was, which is really what I'm complaining about.
