We’re proud to announce the first ever Battle for Mid-Atlantic Dominance. This tournament will be held on Saturday, February 20th, 2016 at the Charter School of Wilmington.

Questions: We will be mirroring the SCT-d2 set produced by NAQT. This tournament is meant for teams who are of HSNCT ability only. We recommend all lower level teams in the region to attend the Great Valley tournament (about 40 minutes from Charter) on the same day.

Time and Date: The tournament will be held on Saturday, February 20th, 2016. Registration will begin at 8 AM and matches will begin around 8:30 AM. The tournament should conclude around 5 PM.

Tournament Fees:
$80 for the each team

Tournament Discounts:
-$10 for a moderator
-$5 per buzzer
-$10 per 100 miles distance traveling one way (by Google Maps)
Minimum price per team: $30

Lunch: As there aren’t very many eateries near the school, we’d encourage teams to stay in the building during lunch so that we can finish in a timely manner. We will be selling pizzas for $15 a pie (extra-large pies). We will also be selling snacks and drinks.

Nationals: The top 15% of finishers in this tournament will qualify for the High School National Championship Tournament in Dallas, Texas in May 2016. This tournament has yet to be PACE affiliated, but when it is, the post will be updated indicating such.

Field Cap: We will be placing a soft cap initially at 16 teams, but are able to expand to 24 teams if there is interest.

Please bring payment for the tournament in the form of a cash or check the morning of the tournament. All checks can be made out to The Charter School of Wilmington with “Academic Bowl” on the memo line.

Additionally, we will be using timed rounds, with 10 minute halves to account for slightly slower moderator speeds than those at nationals.

Forgive me if this post is untoward, but will any thought be put into changing the date of this event since extreme weather throughout the Mid-Atlantic region forced most SAT testing centers to reschedule the Jan23 test for Feb20?

We will not be able to attend for this reason if the tournament remains on Feb20, and I am wondering if other teams find themselves in the same predicament.

Given the packed nature of the Northeast schedule this year, I believe http://www.hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewto ... =20&t=8460 has some relevance.

I ask because of the extreme nature of this weather event, and I'd appreciate the response to be from someone who is affiliated with Wilmington Charter. Outside opinions really aren't necessary. Thanks.

We were not aware of this SAT date change. Unfortunately, our school office is closed today and tomorrow. Once we return to school I will ask our office if any other weekends remain free to shift the date to if this is an issue that affects a significant number of teams in the field. We will send send out an email once we have a backup date to ascertain how many teams the shifted SAT affects. Once we have gathered this information we will make a decision on whether or not to change the date.

Hello Everyone! I would like to inform everyone that our tournament, BMAD, will not be changing dates and is to remain on Feb. 20th, since our school cannot come up with a backup date on such short notice.
