TJMST @ TJHSST, 2/18/17 [SCOP MS 7]

Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology is pleased to announce this year's annual Thomas Jefferson Middle School Tournament (TJMST) on February 18th, 2017.

TJMST's current field cap is 20, but this may be increased depending on room availability. Please sign up by 2/11/2017. Teams will be limited to 6 people at maximum, and schools planning to bring more than 6 students must register multiple teams. During the rounds, up to 4 students are permitted to play at any given time, and up to 2 students can sub out at halftime. Teams are also allowed to have fewer than 4 people.

LOGISTICS:
Registration will begin at 8:15 AM, and the opening meeting will start at 9:00 AM. We will explain the rules and regulations for new Quizbowl teams, and basic breakfast foods will be provided. Pizza will be available for order in the morning. The tournament will be held at TJHSST (6560 Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA 22312). Our tournament is set for February 18th, if weather permits, but if not, we will reschedule for a later date when the time comes..

FEES:
Registration fees per team:
$60 for schools that regularly participate in pyramidal quizbowl
$35 for schools that are new to pyramidal quizbowl
$10 for individual students without school teams

DISCOUNTS::
-$5 per each fully functional buzzer set, defined as having at least 8 working buzzers
-$10 for moderators with reading experience for pyramidal quizbowl tournaments
-$10 for teams travelling over 150 miles
-$5 per each fully functional buzzer set, defined as having at least 8 working buzzers
Minimum fee of $45 for schools that regularly participate in pyramidal quizbowl

Registration fees can be paid through cash or by check. Checks should be made payable to TJHSST Quizbowl with your school’s name and Registration Fee in the memo line. While payment the day of the tournament is preferable, mailing it in advance will work as well. The post has been updated with signups as of 1/24/17 (Longfellow Middle School and Centennial Lane Elementary have also expressed interest). This tournament is a little under a month away.
