Dear Coaches and Sponsors,
I would like to invite your team(s) to West Point High School’s “Steve Reed Memorial Tournament” to be held Saturday, December 8, 2018 at West Point High School in Cullman, AL. The tournament is open to all teams consisting of players in grades 12 and below. There will be separate awards given to Junior Varsity Teams (grades 10 and below). Each school may register as many teams as you like. This is a great opportunity to let all of your players get some experience.
The tournament will use questions written by NAQT. Specifically, IS-180A. These questions are written at a level suitable for new players and veteran players alike. Furthermore, this tournament will serve as a National Qualifier for the NAQT High School National Championship Tournament . The top 15% of teams will be invited to compete in Atlanta for the National Title in May.
Please note that this IS an ACT Test Date – so please confirm with your students that enough of them are available before committing to attend!
The registration fee will be $65.00 per team with the following discounts:
-$5.00 for a working buzzer system per team (not per school)
Please make checks out to:

Does the 15% qualifying for nationals go for both pools of Varsity and JV or only Varsity?

Re: WPHS Invitational Cullman, AL 12/8/18 - IS180A
According to the HSNCT qualification rules:
If a tournament divides its field into varsity and junior varsity divisions (or similar divisions based on skill) that don’t compete against each other, then only teams from the varsity division may qualify for the HSNCT, but the number that qualify will be equal to 15% of the total field from both divisions (rounded up). For instance, if there are 10 varsity and 10 junior-varsity teams, then a total of 3 teams will qualify ((10 + 10) × 15% = 3), but they will all come from the varsity division.
