The Purdue University Quiz Bowl Team is pleased to announce Boilermaker Buzzathon IV, to be held on Saturday, January 11th, 2020.

Please register by January 5th, 2020 through NAQT's site:
https://www.naqt.com/go/register/10962

Fees:
$80 for the first team, $60 for each subsequent team (schools may register AS MANY TEAMS as they like)
-$5 per WORKING buzzer system
-$10 for each team (schools may earn multiple discounts) traveling more than 100 miles, one-way
Minimum fee per team: $50

If you're a school that's new to Indiana quiz bowl this year (having signed up for IASP quiz bowl, perhaps), and finances may be an issue for your program, please e-mail tournament director Stan Jastrzebski at [email protected] and we'll try to work something out. You can register for IASP quiz bowl here: https://www.iasp.org/students/quiz-bowl/

Question Set:
This tournament will be played on NAQT Invitational Series 186. It'll be good practice for those teams planning to play in any of the Indiana state tournaments, including the inaugural IASP quiz bowl tournament, held just two weeks later.

Rounds will be untimed with 20 tossups and 20 three-part bonuses (no bouncebacks on bonuses). There will be powers and negs (worth 15 and -5 points, respectively). Teams will consist of up to four players playing at once, with in-match substitutions allowed. HOWEVER: please do not have more than six players on a single team.

Logistics:
We plan to hold the tournament in Hampton Hall, like most of our events. However, we're hoping that the advent of standardized high school quiz bowl in Indiana this year will make us move it to another building because there's so much interest. So we beg of you -- please, cause us that logistical change! We'll confirm the location with all registered teams well in advance.

Check in will begin at 8:00 a.m. Players and staffers meeting will take place at 8:30. We are aiming to start games by 8:45, no later than 9am (our aim is to be done no later than 5pm).

Hope to see you all there!

Just a quick update to this: we've changed the set we're using to NAQT IS-186, in hopes that'll allow more teams to play, in case they're able to play 190 somewhere else.

We've cracked double digits on the field for Buzzathon IV -- and, to give teams returning from winter break a little more time to organize, seek funding, etc, we've extended registration until Wednesday, January 8th. Hope that helps!
