Toronto Winter Tournament (March 14, 2020) [CANCELLED]

The Ontario Quizbowl Association is pleased to announce the Toronto Winter Tournament. This tournament aims to be accessible to teams that are new to quizbowl while still providing a meaningful experience to those already familiar with the game. We will be using a slightly modified NAQT IS-191A-set to suit a Canadian audience, which will be at a similar difficulty level to the tournament played during the fall and is suitable for first-time players.

Logistics and Registration

This tournament will take place on March 14, 2020 at the University of Toronto’s St. George Campus at the OISE building. The control room is 2211. Please meet there by 9:00 AM, and the tournament will start at 9:30. We will break for lunch after round 5. The ONQBA will be providing a free pizza lunch to all participants, which will include a vegetarian option. Alternatively, players can bring their own lunch or money to buy lunch at the variety of food options around campus.

To register your school for this tournament, please email me at meghan.torchia at mail.utoronto.ca with the number of teams your school will send, any discounts you would like to claim, and any dietary restrictions. I am also happy to field any questions or concerns via email or replies to this thread.
Please note that we require 48 hours' notice in the event of a team withdrawing.

Fees and Discounts

$60 CAD for the first team from a school
$40 CAD for each subsequent team
-$10 CAD discount per working buzzer set (note that this is dependent on the # of sets, not the # of teams. That is, if a school sends two teams but one buzzer set, they will still only get the discount once)
