I’m happy to announce BOAT, which will take place on Saturday, January 9, 2021. The tournament will be held on RAFT II, a high school regular difficulty set. More details about the set can be found at viewtopic.php?f=109&t=24146.

Eligibility
The tournament will be open to all teams in the upper Midwest, which will include Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Exceptions will be granted on a case-by-case basis. If you are not from this region but would like to participate, please let us know. Each team must have no more than 6 listed players, of which no more than 4 may be in play at any given time.

Format
The tournament will be held completely online via Discord and will start at 9 am CST. Each team will play at least 8 rounds, and each round will have tossups and bonuses. All players must need a separate Discord account to participate in the tournament. The tournament will be run using NAQT rules, with modifications made for untimed rounds and a short increase in the time given to teams to respond to a question.

Registration
The registration fee for the tournament will be $70 per team. Payment methods will be finalized closer to the tournament date. Teams should register for the tournament using this form: https://forms.gle/Md2VDnNCqxqxCtxx6. The tentative field cap is 16 teams, which may be expanded depending on available staff.

We are looking for staffers to help out with the tournament. Please fill out this form if you are interested: https://forms.gle/f9Umf8SDpTufDJ8C9. Staffers will be compensated $40 for a full day of work.

Other Information
All players participating in the tournament must follow the PACE Code of Conduct, found here: http://www.pace-nsc.org/nsc-code-of-conduct/. Any acts of misconduct, including cheating, are strictly prohibited and will be dealt with accordingly by the tournament directors.

Very interested, hoping to field at least one team for this. Is there any discount for multiple teams?

Unfortunately, we are not providing multiple-team discounts as of right now. If it turns out that many schools are interested in bringing multiple teams, then we'll reconsider. Thank you for your interest in BOAT!

We have reached the field cap of 24. Any teams that register after now will be placed onto the waitlist. If another 6 teams register after today, we may consider expanding the field to 30.
