Purdue Quiz Bowl is pleased to announce the 2021 All-Star Team Tryout via Zoom on March 6, in the form of an all-tossups event held after the conclusion of State Finals. This event will be used to decide Indiana's best players, who will then be teamed up to play International Quiz Bowl Tournaments' (IQBT) National All-Star Academic Tournament (NASAT) against the best players from other states.

Format
The event will take the form of an 80- or 100-tossup marathon (depending on field size) with no bonuses. All players will play individually, scoring points solely for themselves. At the conclusion of the event, the top 4 to 6 players (depending on field size and competitiveness) by total points will be given the nod to Indiana's all-star team. I will try to organize practices with this team to prepare them for NASAT, which takes place over the weekend of June 19th-20th. (Yes, that's a 2-day tournament!)

Question Set
The event will use 2021 WORKSHOP, a collegiate set that should be challenging even for our top players. Entrants are advised to read the 2020 iteration of WORKSHOP to get a feel for the difficulty of this event, which is far above that of the state championship itself. This set was chosen because it is close in difficulty to NASAT; you can read the 2019 iteration of that set to compare.

Logistics
I, Drew Benner, will host this event on Zoom shortly after the conclusion of Indiana State Finals at Purdue on March 6th. If your team is eliminated and chooses to leave the Zoom meeting before State is over, I will send an email to everyone signed up immediately after the championship match so you can re-enter the room. I anticipate this event being less than an hour long in total.

Code of Conduct
To play at this event, you must follow the WORKSHOP Code of Conduct for online tournaments. Please read this document thoroughly and follow its guidelines to help create a comfortable, equal space for everyone to compete.

Registration
It costs $25 to register a player for this tournament. Your team may register as many players as you want. You should use this Google Form to register a player. Once you have registered your desired number of players, please contact me at [email protected] to request an invoice.

Thank you for reading! If you have any questions, contact me at [email protected]. I will try to be as prompt as possible in getting back to you.
