Prelim announcement: Ok State's L. L. Lewis Cup (9/15/07)

Post by orangecrayon »

The Oklahoma State University Quiz Bowl Team will host its annual fall tournament, the L. L. Lewis Cup, on Sept. 15, 2007, at OSU-Stillwater. We're planning on using an NAQT set (probably A-level), with untimed matches.

Once the packet assignments are out over the summer, there will be a formal announcement, but we'll be using the same fee structure as in the past ($60/first team, $50/each additional with discounts for early registration and bringing buzzers).

Thanks,

And now for the formal announcement...

Dear coaches,

The Oklahoma State University College Bowl team is pleased to announce our upcoming NAQT tournament, the L.L. Lewis Cup, scheduled for Sept. 15, 2007 on the OSU-Stillwater campus.

The entry fee is $60 for the first team from each school and $50 for each additional team. Teams will be assessed a $15 discount for bringing a working buzzer system. In addition, a $10 discount per school will be assessed if registration is received by Aug. 20. When registering, please indicate the number of teams you will be bringing, approximate school size (OSSAA classification will work for Oklahoma schools) and whether you will be bringing a buzzer system. Registration information will be accepted until midnight on Sept. 10. Sending the information via e-mail will suffice, but formal entry forms are available upon request if required by school district policy.

Round-robin preliminary matches will begin Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. Teams are guaranteed at least seven matches, depending on the field size. Single elimination rounds will be played at the end of the day. All matches will be untimed and will use the NAQT tossup-bonus format. If enough teams enter, large and small school divisions will be formed.
Copies of the question set, IS-69A, are available for purchase as well. Please let us know in advance if you wish to do so, so that we can make enough copies available.

Checks may be made payable to OSU College Bowl. Driving directions will be sent at the end of the registration period, along with hotel listings if needed.

Hope to see you in Stillwater!

Thanks,
Lenzy Krehbiel-Burton

— the three brave students who played on the house team Saturday morning.
— Eric Bell, Bob Brown, Dave Murphy and members of the TU and Langston academic teams for helping staff the tournament.
— Jan Krehbiel of Panalpina Tulsa for helping copy questions.

Congratulations again to Edmond Santa Fe and Drummond high schools. Hopefully we will see everyone back in Stillwater next semester for NAQT state!

Will there ultimately be full stats from this? Mostly I'm wondering because of the Bykowski quizbowl monster.
