ACE website characters list

Post by kCobain911 »

Before the ACE website was renovated, it had a section similar to NAQT's You GOtta Know's. There were only two lists- one about literary characters and one about music. After renovation however, the section itself is gone. I was wondering if anyone had the literary characters list and would be willing to share it with me.

As the guy who did the renovating, I honestly don't remember this part of the site. I'll root around for it to see if I can find it since I have the old site preserved. In general, there was a lot of outdated stuff on there that got started and was never finished, so I dumped anything that I thought wouldn't be relevant. If people would like to see these kinds of lists on the ACF website, I'm sure we could oblige, although honestly, I feel like you'd do better flipping through the question archives.

I don't think ACF should be the kind of organization promoting/endorsing list-studying, although it's arguable whether putting lists on the website qualifies as such.

Knowing things is knowing things, dude. Doesn't matter how condensed the information is. I'm sure others feel differently, but I have no problem with list studying.

Lists can be nice as a jumping-off point--if I wanted to start learning European history, say, it would be nice to have a list of 20 or 30 major things to definitely absolutely know to kick-start a deeper study of the subject. Just knowing the list won't get you that much benefit against good teams, anyway--it's how you take the list and run with it that makes a difference.

I realize lists are only so deep; i just need the characters list so i can go in depth on them.

You could always use the NAQT list of frequently asked about books, and study the major characters in those works.
