Superbad was the funniest movie I've ever seen. I like most of the ones you've listed, but silly comedy doesn't do it for me like it did when I was 12. I really enjoyed Clerks 2 as well.

As mentioned, Superbad is hilarious.

I also think Ferris Bueller's Day Off is deserving of being on any list.

No love for Doctor Strangelove?

Superbad wasn't as good as I expected it to be. Good nonetheless, but it fell short of my expectations.

Also, Plan Nine From Outer Space blows. Sorry Infanta.

I have Enjoyed:

1: The Graduate- simply a sublime comedy- probably the most hilarious that I've ever seen

2: The 40-Year-Old Virgin- Again, terribly funny

3: UHF- also great

4: Borat

5: The Producers

6: Monty Python and the Holy Grail- I didn't rate this higher because it becomes much less entertaining on the second watching.

7: Van Helsing is unintentionally a hilarious movie

8: 300 is similarly unintentionally hilarious with its dialog- though the action sequences were amazing

9: Spaceballs- silly but good

10: Young Frankenstein is also very funny

Edit: I forgot Anchorman. Also hilarious

P9FOS is funny because it sucks so bad. It falls into that "so bad, it's good " category.

And I really should've mentioned Ferris Bueller.

There's way too much Mel Brooks in this thread.

You would love Norbit. Fat woman Eddie Murphy is never to be missed.

I'm not much of a rankin' man. I'm especially dubious of ranking films by "funniness". But some of my favorite comedies, in no particular order, are Demolition Man, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Clue, and Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Sam Lederer, you're out there somewhere, and you should throw your well-considered opinions into this thread.

Anyone remember the movie "Mafia"? It was released in the late 90's by I think the same people who did Airplane. It was a spoof of Mafia movies in general combined with all sorts of jokes about late 90's popular culture, with an absurdist bent.

I personally think it is one of the funniest movies ever made. Perhaps the funniest.

I find that its generally a good sign when on imdb.com the Plot Keywords include both "Sheep" and "Flatulence."
Apparently it's also called "Jane Austen's Mafia" which ups the lulz too.
