RESULTS: OQBA Redlands Challenge

Post by ok_quizbowl »

After a series of drops and three no-shows, we finally wound up with 12 teams for the OQBA Redlands Challenge. After prelims we had a mild surprise as first-timer Oklahoma Bible Academy was the only undefeated team at 6-0. (No one can say they had a cupcake schedule, either, as they beat both Edmond Memorial and Edmond Homeschool to get there.) Drummond, Mustang A, and Edmond Homeschool all came in at 5-1.

Playoffs:
9) Garber upset 8) Elk City B
5) Edmond Memorial d. 12) Davenport B
6) Caney Valley d. 11) Davenport A
10) Mustang B upset 7) Elk City A

Quarterfinals:
1) Oklahoma Bible Academy d. 9) Garber
4) Edmond Homeschool d. 5) Edmond Memorial
3) Mustang A d. 6) Caney Valley
2) Drummond d. 10) Mustang B

Semifinals:
4) Edmond Homeschool upset 1) Oklahoma Bible Academy
3) Mustang A upset 2) Drummond

Finals:
3) Mustang A 215, 4) Edmond Homeschool 185

Mustang captures its first OQBA tournament title. Drummond won the small school championship.

Thanks to Cary Cavnar, Dave and Lori Murphy, Gail Bliss, and Greg Oppel who helped as moderators and to Gaylina Peters and the whole crew at Redlands Community College for allowing us (again) to use their facilities.

See everyone in Tulsa on November 3!
